The Role:

Our site in Bloomington, MN is seeking a 2nd shift Production Supervisor to join our team. The 2nd shift supervisor is responsible and accountable for achieving departmental production requirements by focusing on safety first, quality, and cost, through supervision of staff and through the coordination of scheduling and workflow. The incumbent will be directly responsible for the end to end supervisor responsibilities of department but also serve as a supervisor contact for other departments that are working to support operations. This role is critical in ensuring staff training and providing guidance, motivation and ensuring work instructions are maintained and followed across their department. This individual will build a maintain a culture where teamwork, innovation, and accountability are of the highest importance. They will also work closely with the Production Supervisors and support team resources to ensure seamless communication across the production shifts. This position will primarily work the Shift Schedule of 2pm - 10pm Monday - Friday, but there will be an expectation that the incumbent flexes their hours and days worked to accommodate critical leadership meetings and other duties as necessary.
What You'll Do:
Provide daily work direction to 10-15 team members and acts as first point of contact regarding any issues that may arise on shift. Ensure safe work practices and work with EHS to train and elevate a culture of safety within the team. Monitor work area and employees' performance for adherence to safety procedures and managing cleanliness expectations for the machining team. Serve as an escalation point for all employe's working 2nd shift for any production or behavioral issues that may arise during the shift. Ensure staff training is provided for effective performance. Address issues with staff and keep documentation for coaching. Adhere to Company policies, procedures, and applicable budget requirements. Conduct timely employee performance reviews. Communicate effectively to the team regarding goals and expectations as well as with other supervisors, engineers, and management to ensure operations is one cohesive unit. Ensure expected output of quality products. Assist in investigating and evaluating quality issues and determining appropriate actions for resolution. Assist in writing document change orders and manufacturing instructions. Promote the use of Lean / Sigma Manufacturing concepts including SPC, Kanban materials management and 6s Uses PDCA, visual management, schedule attainment, KANBAN, and daily improvements to monitor and adjust production requirements and resources to ensure on time shipment. Implement and monitor continuous quality improvement activities including waste and cost reduction, equipment and tool efficiencies and human resource planning.
What We Seek:
5 or more years' experience in a complex manufacturing environment 2 or more years of supervisory experience required Organizational, planning and communication skills and the ability to adapt to workforce, work environment and customer needs Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field preferred Experience with lean and/or six sigma methodologies Ability to work nights and weekends as needed by the business and manufacturing needs

Compensation:
