Job Description
Job Overview This position provides front-line leadership and technical oversight for an assigned production area and crews. This role is responsible for safe and efficient shift operations, employee development, product quality, and continuous process improvement. The position serves as the primary decision-maker during the shift, coordinating people, equipment, and resources to meet production, quality, cost, and safety objectives. Responsibilities Lead and promote a strong safety culture; ensure compliance with all safety policies. Coordinate shift operations to meet production, quality, and efficiency goals. Supervise and support production employees, including training and performance management. Troubleshoot process, quality, and equipment issues during the shift. Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and other departments as needed. Support continuous improvement and problem-solving efforts. Ensure accurate completion of shift documentation and reports. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Paper Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field, or related experience. 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Prior leadership, lead, or shift coordination experience preferred. Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills. Supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
