With more than 90 large-platform industrial grade 3D printing machines and a national footprint with more than 500,000 square feet of manufacturing capacity across 12 facilities, Fathom seamlessly blends in house capabilities across plastic and metal additive technologies, CNC machining, injection molding & tooling, urethane casting, sheet metal fabrication, and design and engineering.
This is not a working supervisor role. The focus is on people leadership, schedule execution, and technical problem resolution. The Shop Supervisor serves as the first line of technical authority on the floor and ensures work flows safely, on time, and to quality standards.
Standardizesetupdocumentation and best practices to improve repeatability and reduce variation between operators.
Collaborate with leadership to improve tooling, fixtures, and programming standards.
Support implementation of Lean initiatives and maintain documentation for setups and best practices.
Ensure all safety policies and quality standards are consistently followed.
Continuous ImprovementMonitor key metrics including delivery, scrap, efficiency, and ERP accuracyIdentify and drive improvement opportunitiesSupport lean initiatives and standardization effortsPartner with leadership on tooling, fixturing, and process improvements

Position Summary:
The Shop Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day leadership of the production floor across turning, vertical milling, and horizontal milling. This role reports to the Shop Foreman and is accountable for executing the production schedule, assigning work, maintaining ERP accuracy, and leading the shop floor team.This is not a working supervisor role. The focus is on people leadership, schedule execution, and technical problem resolution. The Shop Supervisor serves as the first line of technical authority on the floor and ensures work flows safely, on time, and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling & ExecutionOwn daily and weekly production scheduling across all machining departmentsAssign work based on priority, machine availability, and operator capabilityMonitor work in process and adjust sequencing to remove bottlenecks and protect deliveryEnsure jobs are fully staged with material, tooling, and documentation before releaseCommunicate priorities and changes across Production, Quality, Programming, and WarehouseERP ManagementEnsure all production transactions are accurate and completed in real timeReview job quantities, run times, and labor reporting for accuracyCorrect discrepancies before job closeoutMaintain ERP integrity to support scheduling, costing, and delivery performanceTechnical LeadershipServe as primary technical resource for machining issues on the floorDiagnoseandresolveroutine machining problems including tooling, offsets,fixturing, surface finish, and dimensional issuesEscalate complex issues to Programming or Shop Foreman as neededCoachmachinistsand operatorsto buildtechnical capabilityPartner with Programming on new job launches and process improvementsLeadership & Team ManagementLead machinists and operators across all departmentsManage staffing, attendance, and shift coverageProvide clear expectations, coaching, and performance feedbackAddress performance and behavioral issues promptlyDevelop team capability through training and mentorshipDrive accountability to safety, quality, and productivity standardsQuality &SafetyMonitor departmental performance and identify opportunities for process improvement.Standardizesetupdocumentation and best practices to improve repeatability and reduce variation between operators.

Qualifications/Requirements:
5+ years of experience in a CNC machining environment with knowledge of turning and milling operations3+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role within manufacturingStrong working knowledge of ERP systems including production transactions and schedulingProven technical troubleshooting ability across machining processesStrong leadership and communication skillsProven ability to manage production schedules and competing prioritiesProficiency in reading blueprints and understanding GD&TStrong attention to detail and organizational abilityAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentCommitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvementHours:
