Position Summary SJB is seeking an experienced Working Masonry Foreman to lead field crews while performing hands-on masonry work. Masonry is a craft and this role is a part of a craftsmanship career path. Successful candidates should take pride in hands-on work, quality results, attention to detail, and develop the skills required to become a highly skilled craftsman in the masonry trade. Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead crews performing masonry work across industrial, commercial, and residential projects.
  • Perform hands-on masonry work (brick, block, stone) while directing and supporting the crew.
  • Optimize resources (manpower, materials, equipment) to ensure efficient, high-quality production.
  • Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Provide clear, effective, and timely instruction to all crew members.
  • Build strong working relationships with teammates, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Ensure crews are properly supplied with tools, equipment, and materials. Prevent waste and misuse.
  • Monitor crew performance, productivity, attendance, and safety compliance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and complete company forms promptly.
  • Uphold company standards for conduct, communication, cleanliness, and customer interaction.
  • Keep company vehicles and equipment clean, organized, and well-maintained.
  • Set daily goals that are challenging yet achievable and communicate them effectively to the crew.
  • Demonstrate continuous self‑improvement and foster an innovative, forward‑thinking job-site environment.
  • Assist supervisors with reasonable requests that support project and company goals (safety prioritized). Safety Responsibilities
  • Comply with all SJB safety standards during every stage of project execution.
  • Ensure all crew members follow proper safety procedures and correct unsafe behavior immediately.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and situational awareness. Qualifications
  • Extensive masonry experience (brick, block, stone) with strong hands-on abilities.
  • Proven leadership experience in the construction or masonry industry.
  • Strong understanding of materials, tools, equipment, and layout techniques.
  • Ability to schedule tasks, manage crews, and maintain project efficiency.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict‑resolution skills.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Skills
  • Experience training or mentoring masons and laborers.
  • Blueprint reading expertise.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain job-site logistics.
  • Comfort working under schedule pressure while maintaining quality.
