ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behavior, which may lead to accidents. Continually endorse the Quality & Food Safety Policies, assure conformance to all requirements of the Quality & Food Safety Management Systems, & take action to properly report failures of these systems to site management.GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY
Executes the production schedule for processing products to meet established product quality specifications and packaging requirements while ensuring compliance to safety, environmental and regulatory policies. Coordinates and supervises the activities of the operators and team leaders to maximize fermentation, centrifugation, blending, evaporation, filter press and liquid cultures packaging efficiencies with minimal equipment downtime. Trains new and existing team members on equipment operations, maintains and updates operating procedures and working instructions. Must follow established procedures and run set points in order to achieve QC approved products. Job Description - Production Supervisor Assists the Production Manager in implementing and conceiving new initiatives with the purpose of improving plant performance driven by, but not limited to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as BOP, product cost/lb, throughput, downtime (% on-line), % shippable, % OTIF (On Time In Full), inventory levels and safety indicators. include the following. Other duties may be assigned. A. Essential Functions 1. Leads and coordinates employee element of assigned work group to maximize efficiency. This includes activities such as hiring & termination of staff, corrective actions, annual review process, training, coaching, counseling, conflict resolution, and other disciplining of staff. 2. Becomes expert in department(s) overseeing-- Fermentation, Dry packaging, Liquid Receiving & filtration & evaporation, Wet Blend operations, Spray drying, and any other process streams by understanding & coordinating the equipment operation, procedures, SQF, HACCP, GMP, Safety, sanitation, preventative maintenance programs and personnel capabilities. 3. Utilizes SAP and other software to perform transaction functions for materials flow. Trains new and existing team members on the operation of all PCs, software, relevant PLC interfaces and instrumentation, the importance of following JAMs and working instructions and provides documentation of training. 4. Empowers employees to effectively perform their tasks independently at the expected level by ensuring that the necessary knowledge, training and tools have been provided while developing training tools where needed. 5. Will help the site implement new equipment, develop SOP's and complete product qualification steps on new equipment. 6. Assures that working instructions and process descriptions are up to date, accurate and accessible to all team members through the QSet manual. Assures all procedures and instructions are adhered to in the production process. 7. Validates critical control point (CCP) instrumentation in the fermentation and cultures production process to ensure adherence to established quality assurance, GMP and regulatory procedures. 8. Participates in developing finite production schedules at weekly scheduling meeting. Schedules and coordinates the daily activities of the operators to meet production processing and adherence to plan (ATP) requirements. Reports all equipment and instrumentation malfunctions immediately for repair and assists in trouble shooting and diagnosing problems to ensure timely repair. Initiates maintenance work orders. 10. Interacts with the Process Development project team to optimize the yields and processing parameters. Participates in process troubleshooting and HACCP teams for continuous improvement of existing and new process equipment. 11. Continually ensures and oversees the cleanliness, sanitation and appearance of the equipment, facility sanitation and housekeeping procedures to ensure compliance with established internal programs and regulatory codes. 12. Progresses facility initiatives to achieve continual improvement in separating, sorting, scrubbing, standardizing and systematizing (5S). 13. Maintains production tracking records, reports and spreadsheets to provide information and data for monthly reporting of production efficiency and monthly KPIs. 14. Responsible for the scheduling of all production personnel. Approves vacation requests and arranges for coverage. Posts the schedule weekly for employees, and updates Kronos schedules and time off requests daily. Approves time cards in Kronos weekly Qualifications and skillsA. EDUCATION A
four year degree preferred in engineering, food technology or business, or 5 years production supervision with demonstrated effective leadership and performance.B. EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years experience in a dairy plant or related industry. Leadership experience is desirable. Familiarity with spray drying and powders processing highly desirable.C. SKILLS
Ability to understand functioning process equipment. Good communication, leadership planning and organizational skills are required. Influential track record in training. Must have good computer/IT skills; Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience required.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
