Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Shoe Processing Production Manager to lead our footwear operations. The Shoe Processing Production Manager at Opitz Processing Center, is a hands-on, lead by example, management position. This position requires 60-75% of their time spent processing along with their team members (i.e., Sorting, Pairing, Pricing, Ticketing, Classifying). Additional essential duties and responsibilities include:
LEADERSHIP/OPERATIONS
  • Provide general management and strategic leadership for all aspects of the Shoe Operations Process to achieve business objectives.
  • Supervise the receipt, storage and control of unprocessed inventory for use in production.
  • Work with Operations Manager to schedule production, and to maintain appropriate inventory levels of processed and unprocessed product.
  • Drive continuous improvement, monitor and appraise job results, continually look for ways to develop and implement new processes and seek to improve existing processes.
  • Lead by example, model behaviors that are consistent with the company's values, and enforce company policies fairly and consistently.
QUALITY CONTROL
  • Manage quality control throughout the Shoe Operations Process to ensure that problems are avoided, recognized and/or corrected.
  • Lead and manage quality investigations.
  • Determine root cause of quality issues and contribute to the resolution of the issues.
EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT/EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
  • Create a high performance culture in all shoe operation departments by setting clear expectations and targets, analyze employee performance, hold employees accountable and give appropriate and prompt feedback to achieve operational objectives and promote the growth of future talent.
  • Drive employee engagement, foster effective problem-solving techniques, encourage employee advancement, provide coaching/counseling and institute corrective action when needed.
  • Provide job specific training to all newly hired employees or those assigned to mentor so they may perform their duties in accordance with acceptable job standards.
  • Responsible for insuring all department personnel are provided ongoing training in Production and Quality Standards, Safety, and Company Guidelines, Policies and Expectations.
  • Prepare and deliver performance appraisals for direct reports.
COMMUNICATIONS
  • Demonstrate high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with employees, peers, executive management and retail store personnel.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships within and between departments, warehouses/processing centers and retail stores; includes ability to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment with effective relationships company wide.
ADMINISTRATION
  • Set standards for orderliness and organization of entire facility.
  • Ensure proper level of staffing by identifying, recruiting and screening potential employment candidates.
  • Accountable for preparing production reports, word processing, creating spreadsheets and presentations as needed by the organization.
SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred), or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years of related professional experience.
  • Knowledge of the Footwear Industry and related manufacturing processes strongly preferred.
  • Excellent management, organizational, supervisory and employee relations skills.
  • Self-starter who is highly engaged, goal focused and strategic in planning their daily, weekly, monthly and annual priorities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Creative, innovative, strong problem solver, able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with staff at all levels.
  • Computer proficiency; Windows, Word, Excel, E-mail.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive employee and proprietary information in a confidential manner.
