As a Supervisor, Welding, you will supervise and coordinate the activities of workers who operate various machines to weld parts or products.
What You'll Do:
Supervision and direction of welders, material handlers, machine operators, and sanders. Ensure a well-trained and versatile workforce by promoting cross-training. Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and assigns duties. Plans the flow of materials through the department. Works with fume control equipment such as downdraft tables and methods of fume control. May supervise large vertical milling and drilling machines. Directs workers in adjusting machines and equipment to repair products that fail to meet standards. Will support and strive toward safety in all facets of the manufacturing facility. Resolve safety problems that arise and complete required paperwork. Assist with or perform nonconformance investigations and root cause analysis. Effectively monitor and adjust the productivity and efficiency of workers to plant performance standards. Ensure shop equipment is tracked, maintained, and available as required. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Maintains time and production records. Supports Hunter Excellence and Value Stream Initiatives. Effectively communicate with peers, subordinates,?and management. Assist with the recruitment and hiring of plant personnel. Support the development and implementation of the management philosophy and vision. Contribute, make recommendations, and implement practices to control and reduce departmental and overall costs. Additional duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
An undergraduate or associate's degree in engineering or a related technical field is preferred. 5 years' demonstrated manufacturing supervisory experience OR 2+ years' Group Leader experience in a related industry. AWS Certified Welder, required. Knows MIG welding process for mild and stainless steel. Dynamic and engaging leadership skills. Possesses a high level of mechanical and ironwork aptitude. Proficient in MS Office Suite. Has familiarity with
ISO 9000
standards. Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement is highly desirable. Interpret technical drawings and schematics. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret multiple instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
