Production Supervisor
Job Description
Production Supervisor Karman Space & Defense is a leader in the rapid design, development, and production of critical, next- generation system solutions that align with the U.S. Department of War and its allies' core mission priorities, and meet the accelerating demand for access to space. Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs. This role is part of our Maritime Defense Systems business, which delivers integrated solutions with decades of proven performance across submarine, surface, and autonomous naval platforms supporting high-priority national defense programs. Our bow-to-stern capabilities include acoustic and sonar protection systems, propulsion systems, advanced composite structures, missile subsystems, canisters and launchers, and autonomous underwater vehicle subsystems. From concept through production, we combine engineering, materials expertise, specialized manufacturing, and large-scale testing to deliver mission-ready systems that reduce technical risk and support long-term operational performance. In this role, you will lead production teams manufacturing advanced composite structures that support critical maritime defense programs. You will guide employees' performance and development, coordinate daily workflow, uphold quality and production standards, and ensure smooth cross‑department collaboration. Your leadership will help maintain reliable manufacturing operations while fostering a positive, performance‑driven team environment. Responsibilities Leads daily production activities to meet schedule, quality, and performance targets. Coaches, mentors, and supports employees to strengthen skills, address performance needs, and promote growth. Recruits and interviews candidates and supports talent acquisition activities such as job fairs. Executes cross‑training strategies to expand employee capability and meet production requirements. Assesses performance, provides constructive feedback, and ensures required reviews are completed on time. Enforces company policies, procedures, and safe work practices to maintain a productive work environment. Organizes and monitors workflow, tracks budgeted hours, and adjusts priorities to meet changing project needs. Evaluates product decisions, resolves issues, and escalates concerns when necessary. Communicates clearly with other departments to coordinate project needs and status updates. Maintains accurate manufacturing process instructions (MIPs) and ensures redlines are completed when required. Required Qualifications Must be 18 years of age. Preferred Qualifications Basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) experience. Experience managing time and attendance. Experience leading safety meetings. Ability to actively mentor employees and support individual growth. Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills. Hands‑on leadership style with willingness to assist directly when needed. Ability to ask questions, take ownership, and seek guidance when necessary. Physical Requirements Ability to bend, stoop, or climb to perform inspections. Ability to ascend and descend vertical ladders, stand and walk for extended periods, work in confined spaces, and lift approximately 50 pounds. Ability to lift, push, pull, or occasionally carry heavy objects. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, walk, stoop, crouch, and sit. Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. Ability to perform repetitive movements, bend, and twist. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
