Job Summary John E. Jenkins, Inc. is hiring an experienced Grade Foreman to lead grading and site-development crews. We're looking for a hands-on leader who understands production, grade control, equipment operations, safety, and how to keep a crew moving.
Job description:
Lead daily grading and earthwork operations Plan crew, equipment, trucking, and material needs Read plans, elevations, stakes, and cut/fill information Direct mass grading, fine grading, building pads, roadways, stone base, and slope work Use and verify GPS/machine-control systems and lasers Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, surveyors, inspectors, and subcontractors Track daily labor, equipment hours, trucking, quantities, delays, and job progress Conduct toolbox talks and maintain a safe, organized work area Identify field conflicts early and communicate solutions Maintain quality and production without sacrificing safety
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe working environment. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to site work. OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification preferred. The Foreman must ensure all safety protocols and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) are worn by all employees and personally.
Quality Control:
Monitor work progress and quality, ensuring adherence to project specifications and standards. Inspect completed work to verify that it meets requirements. Identify and address any defects or deficiencies promptly.
Communication and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including daily logs, timesheets, and material usage. Report progress, issues, and any deviations from plans to the Project Manager. Communicate effectively with clients, engineers or jobsite supervisors.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3 years of grade-foreman or comparable heavy-civil leadership experience Strong knowledge of grading, excavation, compaction, drainage, and site plans Experience operating dozers, excavators, loaders, rollers, and related equipment GPS grade-control experience preferred Ability to lead employees, set expectations, and hold the crew accountable Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to work outdoors, lift 50 pounds, and work overtime when required
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work in outdoor environments in various weather conditions. Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, bending, and standing for long periods. Comfortable working in confined spaces and trenches. Lift up to 50 lbs.
