POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for planning and scheduling of manpower and work space for the manufacturing division; responsible for ensuring that Work Order Management process and procedures are followed in accordance with established policies; responsible for communication in regards to schedule and cost of all work orders; operates in compliance with company safety practices; and performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Stays current on manufacturing trends: proactively keeps updated on trends and requirements of current and new business. Responsible for maintaining a high level of customer service: responds quickly to customer inquiries, concerns etc.
Communication:
responsible for communicating effectively and proactively with management to ensure labor resources are available for required work and provides feedback to department heads regarding process improvement.
Responsible for scheduling:
attends scheduling meetings and proactively provides input to scheduling issues. Responsible for paperwork completion: responsible for handling all paperwork in a timely and accurate manner (expense reports, audits, reports, etc.); summarizes quarterly results in agreed-upon measured areas for coaching discussions with direct manager. Responsible for supervision: responsible for supervising hourly team members including providing positive and constructive feedback and using the progressive discipline system when necessary. Responsible for providing tools: provides the shop floor with the tools needed to complete work including physical tools, training and systems. Responsible for on time delivery: responsible for ensuring on time delivery of parts to customers, works with shop floor team, parts department, vendors and department heads to ensure timely coordination of all aspects of manufacturing. Point of contact: responsible for being the main point of contact for timely information regarding production status. Responsible for work processes: works with Team Lead to monitor labor hours estimate vs actual; if necessary determine reasons a job took more or less hours and communicate findings to management. Operates in compliance with company safety practices: complies with and aids in the development of departmental safety rules; ensures all equipment is in good working order and operates in a safe manner; monitors area for hazards; and maintains a safe and clean work area. Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Must have five to seven years aircraft manufacturing experience and a Bachelor's degree in Business or an aviation-related field strongly preferred, or four years equivalent working experience in the aircraft industry in lieu. Must have prior supervision experience and be able to work flexible hours to accommodate production schedule. Must have a strong positive customer service aptitude, customer focused and service oriented. Must possess the ability to handle change and the ability to work in fast-pace and occasionally stressful environment while maintaining a high degree of flexibility, accuracy, and attention to detail. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and possess thorough organization to ensure that all details of each ongoing project are followed through and managed correctly. Must have MS Office experience including the creation of spreadsheets, databases, and reports (Excel and Word). Must have the ability to work well independently as well with others in different departments, even when challenges arise (schedule, budget, etc.) and strong interpersonal and communication skills in person, telephone, and in writing. Must have strong blue print reading skills. Must have excellent initiative and judgment to make recommendations for improvements in our processes and product offerings. Must be willing to undertake new responsibilities as business needs change and be able to travel when needed. Must be professional and courteous with internal and external customers, displays professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Strong interpersonal and communication skills in person, telephone, and in writing. Good problem solving skills must be demonstrated with good follow-through required on communication, be organized and detail oriented.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform office and clerical duties including use of office tools.
Working Environment:
The working environment may or may not climate controlled and is weather permitting. Daily contact with employees in other departments is required.
