Manufacturing Supervisor

Job description This position is responsible for the safety, the productivity and the quality mindset of the shop floor employees. The position is responsible for assuring their designated team is achieving productivity goals, adhering to company initiatives and culture throughout the shop floor. In this role, a candidate should expect to spend a majority of their time on the shop floor with the shop floor employees. Coaching, mentoring, training and communication are key elements of this job.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for communicating to employees, providing a link between what they do and what the business needs Teach lean concepts and actively engage employees to improve speed, quality and reduce cost Participate and champion continuous improvement events Coach and guide employees about proper conduct and behaviors in line with company culture Provide feedback and maintain documentation regarding employee behaviors (good & bad) Ensure dept. employees adhere to company policies (e.g. following operating instructions, safety protocols, etc.) Establish and enforce policies (manufacturing, quality, safety) Responsible for employee time and attendance Audit overtime usage and seek improvements to reduce as necessary Optimize resource allocations - manpower & equipment Establish and sustain a 5S culture Assure employees have adequate training to achieve quality and productivity requirements Team building Use problem solving and critical thinking skills to overcome manufacturing obstacles Encourage problem solving at the operator level Lead and participate in Gemba walks Investigate safety, quality or productivity issues Create and assure that KPI's are being tracked and improvements are sought Manage and communicate resource exceptions (time off / coverage) with Operation Planners What it means to be wildly successful: Employees bring a safety mindset with them every day Employees are empowered, engaged and actively contributing to the organization All employees have the tools, equipment and knowhow to perform at their best Employees are cross trained, so they can move where necessary to meet demand Employee morale and engagement is high Part quality is high and no escapes to the customer Any additional responsibility as required Accountable for the safety, the productivity and the quality mindset of the shop floor employees

Requirements:

College helpful but not required 3-5 years supervisory experience required. Computer skills- MS Office, ERP Systems experience preferred.

Ability to motivate others Ability to train and delegate other Effectively provide feedback to reports and peers Be accountable for the performance of the team's metrics and its members' behaviors Mathematical skills; calculating figures, formulas Organize, plan and prioritize work in a fast paced, dynamic environment Critical thinking, decision making, problem solving - analyze information and choose best solution Information gathering Monitoring and reviewing available data (i.e. production performance or quality data) to detect and assess problems Lean or six sigma training or experience Ability to seek out opportunities independently and offer solutions
