Job Description

Production Supervisor - USDA Facility The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations within a USDA-regulated facility to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production. This role leads production teams, enforces USDA and company quality standards, coordinates with QA and maintenance, and drives continuous improvement across all processes. Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Leadership Supervise daily production activities to meet safety, quality, and productivity targets. Assign and direct work for production employees across designated lines or departments. Monitor workflow and adjust staffing or processes to maintain efficiency. Regulatory Compliance (USDA) Ensure all production activities comply with USDA regulations, HACCP plans, GMPs, SSOPs, and company policies. Collaborate with on-site USDA inspectors to address concerns, correct deficiencies, and maintain audit readiness. Verify documentation accuracy, including production records, sanitation logs, and
HACCP/CCP
monitoring. Quality & Food Safety Partner with QA to ensure products meet all safety and quality specifications. Lead corrective actions when deviations occur, preventing reoccurrence. Monitor sanitation standards and ensure compliance before and during operations. Team Management & Training Train, coach, and develop production staff to improve performance and maintain safety practices. Conduct performance evaluations, issue coaching or disciplinary actions as needed. Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement. Safety & Continuous Improvement Enforce safety policies and lead incident investigations when necessary. Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste, improve yields, and optimize productivity. Support equipment troubleshooting and coordinate with maintenance to minimize downtime.
Qualifications Required:
2-5 years of production or supervisory experience in a USDA-regulated facility (meat, poultry, dairy, produce, or similar). Strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and USDA compliance requirements. Proven leadership ability with hands-on experience managing frontline employees. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong decision-making skills.
Preferred:
Food Science, Manufacturing, Operations, or related degree. Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement programs. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Work Environment USDA food-processing environment with exposure to cold or wet conditions depending on product type. Standing, walking, and supervising production floor activities for extended periods. May require flexible schedule (nights, weekends, or rotating shifts). #jdp
