This is a working manager position responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the fabrication shop while actively participating in welding and fabrication work. The ideal candidate is an experienced welder and fabricator with strong leadership skills, gate fabrication expertise, and the ability to manage production schedules, quality standards, and shop personnel. This role is critical to ensuring the successful fabrication of custom gates and related products while maintaining a safe, productive, and high-quality work environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise daily gate fabrication and welding operations. Manage shop personnel, assign work, and provide training and coaching. Perform hands-on welding, cutting, fitting, fabrication, and assembly work as needed. Review drawings, specifications, and work orders to prioritize workflow and production schedules. Ensure products meet company quality standards and customer expectations. Coordinate with project managers, field teams, and operations leadership to meet project deadlines. Oversee shop safety practices and compliance with company policies. Utilize ERP and production systems to track jobs, schedules, and workflow progress. Monitor materials, equipment, and shop resources to support efficient operations. Promote continuous improvement in shop processes, productivity, and safety. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years of welding and fabrication experience. Demonstrated experience in gate fabrication and gate production. Experience operating welding equipment, plasma cutters, and fabrication machinery. Strong understanding of shop safety practices and quality standards. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Valid driver's license. Preferred Welding certifications or technical training. Previous supervisory or team leadership experience. Experience with ERP systems, production tracking software, or inventory management systems. Experience in fencing, gate, or specialty metal fabrication industries. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and team development skills. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Effective communication and collaboration skills. Ability to lead by example in a hands-on production environment. Physical Requirements Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to safely operate welding and fabrication equipment. Ability to work in a fabrication shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and welding fumes.
