Material Processing Supervisor Suburban Steel Supply, Inc. is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) structural and ornamental steel fabricator based in Gahanna, Ohio. We've been in business since 1979, and our team owns the work, the outcomes, and the company. We're Hiring a Material Processing Supervisor This is a hands-on shop leadership role at the front of our production process. You'll schedule and supervise material processing, lead the forklift drivers and equipment operators who make it happen, and own the preventive maintenance program for our processing equipment. You'll move between computer work and the shop floor every day, and your decisions set the tempo for fabrication downstream. What You'll Do Schedule material processing holistically, sequencing jobs against installation dates so processed material feeds fabrication in the right order Lead and manage the team of forklift drivers feeding material to the shop and the equipment operators who process it Review shop drawings and release AutoCAD files to automated processing equipment Confirm scheduled materials are on site, and account for special-order or back-ordered items (hardware, odd sizes, custom parts) when building the schedule Own the preventive maintenance program for processing equipment, coordinating with operators and manufacturers on preventive maintenance and repair work Identify cross-training gaps across operators and equipment, then build and execute a plan to close them Partner with Purchasing on inventory consumption reporting, Detailing on shop drawings and automated files, and fabricators on quality or scheduling issues tied to processed material What You'll Bring Working knowledge of a structural or ornamental steel shop, including equipment capabilities and material identification (types, grades, dimensions) Experience scheduling or supervising processing, fabrication, or production work in a manufacturing environment Comfort moving between computer work and the shop floor or yard throughout the day Proficiency with Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook); Tekla and AutoCAD experience strongly preferred Understanding of preventive maintenance programs and how to coordinate them without necessarily performing the work What We Offer Competitive hourly pay Full benefits package Employee ownership through our ESOP
