Job Description

Production Supervisor - 3rd Shift American Trim is seeking a 3rd Shift Production Supervisor to provide hands-on leadership for our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for leading hourly production employees, coordinating daily manufacturing activities and ensuring the team has the people, materials, equipment and information needed to safely produce quality products on schedule. We're looking for a leader who is comfortable being present on the production floor, developing employees, addressing performance and employee concerns, and working closely with other departments and shifts to keep operations moving. This is a 3rd shift leadership position requiring schedule flexibility based on operational needs. The position includes rotating weekend coverage (as needed for overtime schedules) and may require extended workdays or adjusted schedules to support production. The Supervisor provides direct leadership to hourly employees and is responsible for work assignments, employee training and development, performance management, production coordination, quality and safety within the assigned area.
Job Responsibilities:
Directly supervises hourly employees in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assure the production of quality parts at competitive price by assigning trained employees to jobs while assuring that all raw materials, changeovers, production schedules and work instructions are available and completed in a timely manner. Assure that employees are cross-trained in all pay grade jobs in performance, quality checks, process checks, charting, safety and quantity checks to provide flexibility in job assignments. Assure the quality standards are maintained by continually monitoring the performance of employees, and equipment during the operation of the shift. Help each employee to realize his/her full potential by mentoring with timely evaluations, rewards, discipline and counseling. Assure the employees a safe work environment by maintaining good housekeeping standards and providing them with the necessary safety equipment and monitor the use of the same. Assure employees fair and equitable treatment by following company policies and procedures to provide uniform application between multiple facilities. Assure continuity of production by providing and receiving status reports from the previous and following shifts on production, scrap and quality issues. Assist in conflict resolution by encouraging employees to utilize open door policy and guiding the through the process. Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager. Qualifications, Skills & Experience Associate degree from a two-year or technical college and/or 3-5 years of related manufacturing leadership experience; an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will also be considered. Previous supervisory, team-lead or other manufacturing leadership experience strongly preferred. Experience leading hourly employees in a manufacturing or production environment preferred. Ability to plan and prioritize production activities while responding to changing operational needs. Demonstrated ability to coach employees, set clear expectations, address performance concerns and hold employees accountable. Ability to apply policies and expectations consistently and make sound decisions in employee and operational situations. Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to communicate effectively with hourly employees, leadership and cross-functional support teams. Ability to understand and monitor production schedules, quality requirements and performance expectations. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, employee development and operational performance. Ability to work a 3rd shift schedule with rotating weekend coverage, extended workdays and schedule adjustments as required by operational needs. License, Certification or Special Requirements No specific license or certification is required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn including but not limited to: eyes, ear, foot and/or other protective devices as required.
Forklift Certification:
This position requires company forklift certification. Employees must successfully complete a drug screening as part of the initial certification process and any required recertification process, in accordance with company policy. Why American Trim?
