Job Description

Position Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations on 3rd shift. This position is responsible for overseeing multiple production lines and leading approximately 15-30 production associates to achieve safety, quality, productivity, and delivery objectives. The Production Supervisor will work closely with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and other operational teams to resolve production issues, maintain equipment and process performance, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. This position requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment, developing frontline employees, maintaining accountability, and responding quickly to changing production needs. Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Operations Supervise hourly production employees and provide leadership and accountability for assigned production areas. Manage daily operations across multiple production lines to meet safety, quality, productivity, and delivery requirements. Assign and direct employees to maintain an efficient and consistent flow of quality products. Monitor production operations throughout the shift to ensure equipment is functioning properly and employees are following established processes and procedures. Coordinate personnel, equipment, and other resources to address production problems, bottlenecks, and operational weaknesses. Take appropriate action when production processes fall outside established operating or quality standards. Ensure continuity between shifts through effective communication and consistent operating practices. Establish goals and expectations that support continuous improvement within assigned areas. Complete required daily production, downtime, attendance, and absenteeism reports. Communicate production issues requiring assistance to Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, or other support departments. Safety & Compliance Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout assigned production areas. Ensure employees understand and comply with company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations. Maintain safe, sanitary, and organized working conditions. Conduct or coordinate required safety training, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and related activities. Promptly investigate accidents and near misses, complete required documentation, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Monitor work areas and employee practices to identify and address potential safety concerns. Ensure employees understand their workplace safety rights and responsibilities. Quality & Continuous Improvement Maintain established quality standards and ensure employees follow documented production and process-control procedures. Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to identify and resolve production or process issues. Facilitate continuous-improvement initiatives and operational improvement projects. Support process and methods control throughout assigned production areas. Participate actively in quality and continuous-improvement programs. Maintain workplace organization and cleanliness standards, including required 5S documentation and activities. People Leadership Lead, coach, train, and develop hourly production employees. Communicate expectations clearly and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, attendance, productivity, and workplace conduct. Coordinate training for employees within assigned production areas. Manage staffing requirements, including vacation requests, PTO, shift modifications, overtime, and other scheduling needs. Distribute overtime fairly and consistently in accordance with established policies and procedures. Conduct and participate in employee meetings, training sessions, and improvement activities. Maintain effective communication with employees, fellow supervisors, management, and support departments. Administer applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions and established labor procedures. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college education preferred. Minimum of five years of experience in foundry, manufacturing, or industrial operations . Previous experience working in a production-focused industrial environment. Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and develop frontline employees. Strong understanding of manufacturing safety, quality, productivity, and continuous-improvement practices. Ability to troubleshoot operational problems and coordinate resources to resolve production issues. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare and maintain production, attendance, downtime, and other operational reports. Ability to conduct and participate effectively in meetings and employee training. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage stressful or time-sensitive situations. Willingness and ability to work extended hours, weekends, or alternate shifts when operational needs require. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management , or a related field. Previous supervisory experience in industrial manufacturing environments such as foundry operations, metal fabrication, machining, heavy equipment, or component assembly. Experience supervising teams of approximately 15-30 employees. Experience working in a union or collective bargaining environment. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous-improvement methodologies. Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, Lean certification, or similar continuous-improvement credential. Experience with 5S workplace organization practices. Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills. Work Environment This position operates in an industrial manufacturing environment and requires regular presence on the production floor. The Production Supervisor must be comfortable working around manufacturing equipment and responding to operational, personnel, safety, and production issues throughout the shift. The position is primarily assigned to 3rd shift , with flexibility required to work additional hours, weekends, or alternate shifts based on production and business needs.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
