Job Description:
SUMMARY The Production Lead is responsible for production of finished goods at standard cost within established quality standards and safety guidelines. The Lead helps regulate the quality and flow of work in the plant and carries out production schedules. The Lead is responsible for equipment changeovers, training personnel, communicating material and tooling shortages. The lead is responsible for helping maintain compliance with all HR policies and practices on the shop floor and maintaining a positive work environment, reviewing the progress of production personnel via personal observation and analysis of non-conformances on departmental production, quality and shipments.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES and
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work directly with production for his/her assigned shift. This includes training and completing assigned program tasks. Leads training and development of all production assemblers. Ensures compliance with and the consistent application of all HR policies and practices Works with leads and production supervisors to ensure proper utilization of manpower to ensure compliance with established standards and works to continuously improve standard costs Works with leads and production supervisors to coordinate various production operations to ensure proper workflow through the plant Identifies opportunities for scrap reduction and assists the Production Supervisor in prioritizing continuous improvement efforts Verifies manufacturing processes according to approved methods and quality standards; assures that units are within standard costs. Works with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure the smooth transition of new products Develops and trains his subordinates to continuously improve their performance and skills Communicates continuous improvement, production schedules, safety and quality with Production supervisor on a weekly basis. Maintains a positive and supportive environment and communicates issues / concerns as they arise. Responsible for safe operations on his/her shift. Identifies, communicates and removes unsafe methods, procedures, or conditions. Maintain discipline in the manufacturing operations while promoting a positive and supportive work environment. Works with leads and supervisors to ensure appropriate tooling changeover after program completion. Aids in preventative maintenance to keep production equipment clean and running consistent. Aids in gathering and maintaining appropriate inventory levels for the production floor. Understanding how to use a computer and Microsoft Office.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of equipment / fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment. GED is required. One to three years' experience in equipment changeovers, employee training, and high mix/low volume manufacturing is preferred. Familiarity with ERP systems is an asset for the position.
