Job Description

Job purpose Provide leadership, training and guidance to production personnel to ensure that standard operating procedures are followed. Develop and maintain operational procedures and practices to ensure continuous improvement of efficient operations, quality standards, achieve production targets and meet our customer's requirements. Enforces company policies, safety standards, and environmental compliance Duties and responsibilities Supervise production line and slitting line personnel to obtain efficient use of equipment, manpower, and materials. Will oversee and direct support groups as required. Responsible for enforcing, maintaining and improving quality standards to meet customer expectations and achieve facility goals. Develops corrective action plans to eliminate non-conformances along with plans to achieve process improvements and Annual Operating Targets. Ensures awareness of the importance of conformance with the environmental policy and procedures and the requirements of the environmental management system, including the potential consequences of departure from specified operating procedures; knowledge of actual or potential significant environmental impacts of the work activities associated with this position and the environmental benefits of improved personal performance; and understanding the roles and responsibilities within the position in conjunction with achieving conformance with the environmental policy and procedures and with the requirements of the environmental management system. Enforce and monitor compliance to safety and housekeeping standards. Responsible for effective employee training, discipline, personnel scheduling, and record keeping per company standard operating procedures and policies. Investigates production, personnel and related equipment and takes appropriate corrective action following up to completion in a timely manner Prepares accurate and timely production reports as required and communicates results to appropriate personnel/departments Provides communication between shifts to ensure smooth transitions Works with Purchasing to maintain adequate supplies for production Participates in continuous improvement efforts and complies with Brightsmith

EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. Minimum or three to five years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Must possess the ability to supervise and direct production personnel. Ability to lead those who are not direct reports. Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot situations and make effective decisions under pressure. Prior experience / knowledge of coil coating and general plant operations preferred Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Excellent communication, decision-making and follow up skills Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
