JOB SUMMARY
The Thermoforming Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating daily thermoforming manufacturing operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of high-quality products. This role oversees production schedules, workforce allocation, equipment utilization, and process performance to achieve established safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals. The Supervisor directs the day-to-day activities of thermoforming operators and technicians, ensuring compliance with company standards while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Working closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Logistics teams, the Thermoforming Production Supervisor drives operational excellence by optimizing production processes, minimizing downtime, maximizing equipment performance, and developing employees to meet current and future business needs. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to employee engagement, product quality, and manufacturing excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership & Supervision :
Manage all employees in the thermoforming department or shift, including performance management, coaching, and development.
Production Planning & Scheduling :
Assign work, schedule forming machines, adjust schedules as needed, and manage shift priorities.
Quality & Process Control :
Perform tool changes, adjust forming parameters, and ensure parts meet quality standards. Implement and maintain quality control procedures.
Safety & Compliance :
Enforce safety regulations, conduct accident investigations, and promote a safe working environment.
Performance Management :
Monitor departmental performance measures, track absenteeism, and provide regular progress reports to management.
Maintenance & Equipment :
Coordinate maintenance activities, troubleshoot machine issues, and ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
Inventory & Materials :
Maintain proper inventory levels and ensure orders are followed.
Continuous Improvement :
Recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment, and working conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Education :
High school diploma or GED; mechanical, plastic, or related engineering background preferred.
Experience :
3-5+ years in thermoforming or related manufacturing roles.
Technical Knowledge :
Proficiency with thermoforming machines, tooling, and forming processes.
Leadership :
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Analytical Skills :
Ability to identify and resolve process inefficiencies.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift to 80 lbs., stand, walk, and operate machinery in a noisy, vibrating environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Location :
Manufacturing plant, often in a plastics or packaging industry.
Hours :
Typically full-time, 40 hours/week, with possible evening or weekend work. Schedule - Tuesday - Saturday, third shift 11pm-7am.
Conditions :
Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and loud noise.

JOB SUMMARY
Manufacturing Production manages or assists with managing various production activities (e.g., assembly, material forming/shaping, processing, treating, or packaging, etc.) including:
  • Planning, directing, and monitoring production to meet established specifications, schedules, volume/cost/wastage targets, and quality standards
  • Liaising with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply & Logistics, Sales, etc. as input to developing production schedules and allocating labor/capital resources
  • Planning, prioritizing, and managing production line maintenance/downtime to minimize disruptions
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Individuals in these roles primarily focus on directing, leveraging, and guiding the work of others, and mobilizing resources. Leaders typically manage two or more direct reports. Responsible for the monitoring and achievement of operational and/or financial results for their area of responsibility. Responsible for people management actions such as hiring, terminating, rewarding, training, and developing employees. Progression within the levels reflects increase in scope and responsibilities as well as growth in business and industry experience, process and people leadership capabilities, and broad technical expertise. Supervises entry-level or semi-skilled hourly employees such as production, craft, and clerical workers. Coordinates resources and sets daily priorities for the team to ensure task completion and operational objectives are met. Works on issues of limited scope. Requires understanding and application of established procedures and full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility. Monitors daily operations of a unit or sub-unit. Uses judgment to identify, troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day technical and operational problems. Applies operational business practices and coordinates with other closely related areas to improve efficiency. Directs operations of work units. Assignments are largely established in accordance with schedules and deliverables; work is reviewed for accuracy and completeness. Decisions directly impact work unit operations. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results may cause delays in schedules. Interacts daily with subordinates or peers within similar or related functions primarily for the purpose of presenting and exchanging information.
Safe Quality Food Responsibilities:
Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods. Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures. Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required. Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF). Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation
Education & Experience:
BA degree or related work experience required in lieu of degree.
