Job Title:
BIM Specialist (Piping) Job Description We are seeking a Sr level BIM Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating design intent contract documents or 3D design models of piping and mechanical systems into detailed Building Information Models (BIMs) for fabrication and installation. This role involves leading a project team to ensure productivity, time management, adherence to standards, and quality control. Responsibilities Lead and support a group of skilled VDC Specialists to meet project deadlines. Manage construction documents and ensure the BIM team has access to current project information. Work with engineers and managers to produce
LOD400 BIM
for mechanical and plumbing systems. Coordinate with General Contractors and subcontractors to achieve spatial coordination of all trades. Attend weekly coordination meetings, both onsite and virtually. Generate and submit RFIs to the design team as required. Create detailed shop, hanger, and sleeve drawings for fabrication and installation purposes. Communicate with field personnel to ensure clarity in shop and spool drawings. Mentor and train VDC team members in modeling, collaboration software, and drawing creation. Maintain training and continued education to improve team accuracy and productivity. Provide input to management on hardware and software requirements. Essential Skills Leadership skills to lead a project team. Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret project schedules, technical literature, and plans. Problem-solving skills and the ability to make appropriate recommendations. Competence in public speaking and presentations. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment. Experience in BIM, Revit, Navisworks, VDC, and BIM detailing. Mechanical and HVAC drafting experience. Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication CADMEP, and Autodesk Navisworks. Additional Skills & Qualifications 5 or more years of experience with installation of piping or mechanical systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with P&IDs, plumbing design, and piping design. Familiarity with BIM coordination, mechanical contractor work, and construction management. Work Environment The position is based out of Raleigh, NC, with flexible work-from-home options. Expect to work 3-4 days from home and 1-2 days onsite or at the Raleigh office. The role leans towards remote work, but projects are local to NC, requiring someone with a local presence. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Raleigh, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
