Job Description

Machining Tech, Senior Savannah River National Laboratory United States, South Carolina, Aiken Savannah River Site (Show on map) Jun 12, 2026 This position will support the Advanced Manufacturing Group's Specialty Equipment Fabrication Facility by assisting with machining of complex components, mentoring less experienced machinists, preparing work estimates, interacting with customers on requests, ordering of materials, supporting machinist activities, filling in for supervisor as needed, and other supporting activities as needed by the facility. Responsibilities Perform machining of complex components for various customers Mentor less experienced machinists on programming, machine setup, tool selection, etc Work with engineering to prepare estimates for potential new work including materials and labor cost. Update customers on the status of work request. Determine materials needed for jobs and work with procurement personnel to obtain materials Fill in for Shop Supervisor as needed Recommend and specify new equipment/tooling/software for the machine shop Perform other shop support activities as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
HS (or Equiv) and 15+ years' experience in machining Associates Degree in Machine Tool Technology (or equivalent) and 10+ years' experience in machining. For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required.
