- HII's Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division is the largest industrial employer in Virginia.
- Lifting & Handling is responsible for supervising, assigning, coordinating, and evaluating semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel in the Lifting & Handling Division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assign tasks to semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel in the Lifting & Handling division, taking into account their skill, experience, and job knowledge
- Train and evaluate employees to enhance their skills and productivity in crane and rigging operations
- Recommend training programs to improve employee performance and assist in developing training procedures
- Develop practical action plans from broad strategies and ensure employees are trained to execute these plans
- Ensure compliance with all technical aspects of the job, including adherence to drawings, procedures, and company standards
- Oversee manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance
- Supervise qualified trades staff, monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts

- Compliance with technical aspects of the job and company procedures
- Budget and job performance for all shifts
- Development and implementation of training programs to enhance employee skills and productivity
Requirements:
- Proven experience in supervising and managing semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel in a Lifting & Handling environment
- Strong knowledge of crane and rigging operations, as well as relevant technical aspects of the job
- Excellent leadership, communication, and training skills
- Ability to develop and implement practical action plans and training programs
- Strong understanding of company procedures and standards, with a focus on compliance and quality control.
