Job Description

I. JOB TITLE
Production Supervisor 2nd shift
  • Prep Reports to: Prep/Sort Manager
II. JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY
The Production Supervisor of the 2nd shift Prep Department is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of all metal prep equipment and team members. This role involves coordinating production activities, ensuring quality standards are met, managing resources efficiently, and fostering a safe working environment. The production manager plays a crucial role in optimizing production processes, meeting production targets and contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing plant. The production supervisor must present a professional image of Custom Steel Supply.
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
1.
Production Supervision:
  • Plan, organize, and oversee the day-to-day operations of Prep department.
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demands and delivery deadlines.
  • Monitor and analyze production metrics to identify areas for improvement and efficiency gains.
Collaborate with production leads and operators to ensure adherence to quality standards and production specifications.2.
Quality Assurance:
  • Maintain quality control measures to ensure products meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the production process to identify and address quality issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with the quality assurance team to implement continuous improvement initiatives.
3.
Resource Management:
  • Manage and optimize the use of resources, including raw materials, equipment, and labor, to ensure cost-effective production.
  • Work closely with logistics, procurement and supply chain teams to ensure timely and sufficient availability of raw materials.
4.
Safety and Compliance:
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for plant employees.
  • Investigate and address any safety incidents or concerns promptly.
5.
Team Leadership:
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team of production staff.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement training programs as needed.
6.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflows and increase efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to address equipment issues and improve reliability.
7.
Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including sales, engineering, and senior management.
  • Provide regular updates on production performance, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with the Production Manager of the Tube Mill.

III. QUALIFICATIONS JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Education
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • 3+ year supervisory experience
  • 3+ years in a metal manufacturing facility
  • Proven experience in metal manufacturing, with a strong understanding of the production processes.
  • Strong understanding of other metal manufacturing equipment and processes such as saws, lasers, welding, brake press, folding machines, drill press etc.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$55,000.00
  • $70,000.
