Job Description
Production Supervisor Needed in Clarksville 1st Shift Up to $36/hr! Job Description The Production Supervisor oversees all aspects of production and packaging operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant processes. This role leads a team of production employees, manages inventory of finished products and packaging, and drives continuous improvement in productivity, quality, and safety performance. Responsibilities Plan, direct, and coordinate all aspects of the production and packaging department to ensure efficient and reliable operations. Control finished product and packaging inventories to support production schedules and customer demand. Supervise, direct, train, and provide day-to-day leadership for 5-10 employees in the production department. Train employees, assign and direct work, appraise performance, and provide coaching and discipline in a fair and consistent manner. Address employee concerns, handle complaints, and resolve issues to maintain a productive work environment. Establish, implement, and audit safety, health, and environmental programs in the production area. Ensure compliance with company policies and all applicable health, human resources, safety, and environmental regulations. Schedule and direct employees in the assignment and completion of work to maintain a smooth flow of materials through zinc dust production operations. Establish and maintain work procedures and standards to meet production schedules and quality requirements. Determine overtime work schedules based on operational needs and approve employee timecards accurately and on time. Interpret instructions, specifications, and job orders for employees and ensure they understand expectations and requirements. Monitor production output and quality data to ensure products meet specifications and to identify opportunities for improvement. Maintain accurate time and production records through electronic database entry. Compile and present production, safety, and performance reports for management review. Provide hands-on operation of production equipment when needed and take responsibility for optimizing recoveries and minimizing waste. Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. Identify and suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and productivity. Analyze and resolve work-related problems and assist employees in troubleshooting issues that affect safety, quality, or throughput. Conduct health, safety, and environmental meetings and ensure employees understand and follow compliance requirements and their responsibilities. Perform accident investigations, complete required reports, and follow up on corrective actions. Establish, maintain, and continuously improve a structured training program for production employees. Carry out all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Support and promote continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and process improvement initiatives within the production area. Perform other duties as assigned by management to support overall plant and business objectives. Essential Skills Proven experience in production supervision, production management, or a closely related leadership role in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated supervisory skills with the ability to lead, coach, and develop a team of 5-10 employees. Hands-on experience with production operations, including scheduling, workflow coordination, and inventory control. Working knowledge of inventory control systems and practices. Experience with continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and process improvement in a production setting. Accurate and timely data entry skills for timekeeping and production records. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to clearly convey instructions and expectations. Ability to work flexible hours, be on-call as needed, and travel occasionally. Ability to interpret specifications, job orders, and operating instructions and communicate them effectively to employees. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve work-related issues in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to safety, health, and environmental compliance and the ability to enforce related policies and procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an industry-related field, or 4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience conducting accident investigations and preparing related reports. Experience in managing or supporting safety, health, and environmental programs in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Experience working in a zinc, metals, chemical, or similar process manufacturing environment (preferred). Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools and methodologies such as standard work, 5S, and continuous improvement projects. Ability to influence and drive change to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and deadlines. Why Work Here? The work involves hands-on interaction with production equipment, regular monitoring of output and quality data, and frequent use of computer systems for electronic database entry, timekeeping, and reporting. The environment requires flexibility to support changing production demands, including overtime and occasional on-call responsibilities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clarksville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
