Direct Hire RPM Staffing is seeking a skilled, hands-on Brake Press Lead in Rowlett Texas who thrives in a fast-paced fabrication environment. In this direct hire position, you'll lead a team of operators, own complex setups, drive quality and efficiency, and partner closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production to deliver on schedule and exceed customer expectations. What You'll Do Lead the daily brake press department: assign work, coach, train, and develop operators on machine operation, tooling, safety, and quality standards. Independently perform complex CNC and conventional press brake setups—including tooling selection/configuration, bend sequencing, program development/modification, and first-article validation. Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders (including GD&T) to determine materials, dimensions, tolerances, bend allowances, and sequencing. Set up and operate press brakes to form, bend, or straighten sheet metal parts to precise specifications. Measure and inspect completed parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, and other precision tools. Monitor production for efficiency, quality, and throughput; identify and resolve process issues; drive continuous improvement in setup time, scrap reduction, and first-pass yield. Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, PPE requirements, and 5S standards; keep machines, tooling, and work areas clean and organized. Perform or coordinate routine machine maintenance and basic troubleshooting; escalate issues as needed. Collaborate with Engineering on design-for-manufacturability feedback and process optimization. Support cross-training across fabrication processes as production needs require. Accurately document production data, scrap, and quality results; communicate status and issues to supervision. What You'll Bring Required High school diploma or GED (technical certificate or associate degree in manufacturing, machining, or related field preferred). 3-5+ years of hands-on press brake setup and operation experience in a precision sheet metal fabrication environment (CNC experience strongly preferred; Amada, Trumpf, Bystronic, Accurpress, or equivalent a plus). Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T. Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and basic shop math (including bend calculations and imperial/metric conversions). Solid understanding of air bending, bottoming, and related forming methods, plus material behavior across common sheet metal types and thicknesses. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment. Reliable, detail-oriented, and effective both independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work overtime or flexible shifts as production demands require. Preferred Demonstrated leadership, lead, or mentor experience. Experience in contract manufacturing or high-mix/low-to-medium volume precision fabrication. Prior exposure to data center, enclosure, cabinet, or racking products. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools. Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
