Direct Hire RPM Staffing is seeking an experienced Punch / Laser Lead to provide hands-on leadership in Rowlett, Texas! This is an opportunity for a skilled fabrication professional who thrives on the production floor, enjoys developing others, and takes pride in driving quality, efficiency, and performance. This is not a desk job. You'll be actively involved in daily production, troubleshooting equipment and process issues, optimizing material utilization, and helping your team achieve production goals safely and efficiently. What You'll Do Production Leadership- Lead punch and laser operators through daily production activities.
- Assign work, prioritize jobs, and ensure production schedules are met.
- Monitor machine utilization, throughput, and overall department performance.
- Maintain workflow and remove obstacles that impact productivity. Process Optimization
- Drive nesting efficiency and maximize material yield.
- Identify opportunities to reduce scrap and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with programming and production teams to improve processes and performance. Quality & Troubleshooting
- Monitor first-pass quality and production output throughout the shift.
- Troubleshoot CNC equipment, tooling, programming, and production issues.
- Ensure first-piece inspections, quality checks, and production documentation are completed accurately. Team Development
- Train and mentor operators on machine operation, setups, quality standards, and best practices.
- Foster accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
- Help build a highly capable team that can consistently deliver results. Communication & Continuous Improvement
- Coordinate with Materials, Programming, and downstream departments to maintain production flow.
- Maintain effective shift-to-shift communication.
- Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, 5S programs, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Promote and maintain a safe, organized work environment. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of CNC laser and/or punch fabrication experience in a precision sheet metal manufacturing environment.
- 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or lead experience directing production teams.
- Strong hands-on setup, troubleshooting, and operational knowledge of CNC fabrication equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of nesting strategies, tooling selection, material yield optimization, and sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production documentation requirements.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead by example on the production floor. Preferred Qualification
- Experience with Amada, Trumpf, Salvagnini, or similar CNC punch and laser systems.
- Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
- Proven ability to use production data and metrics to drive performance improvements. What We Offer
