MANUFACTURING PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR - FIRST SHIFT
Some Supervisor jobs are mostly about making something day after day. This is not one of them. At Oshkosh Door, the Manufacturing Production Supervisor plays a direct role in keeping production moving, protecting customer commitments and helping the business with the most valuable asset which is its employees. This is a role for someone who wants to have ownership of a part of the manufacturing activities, truly lead the employees to do the best they can, take responsibility for making the most of every day and feel the reward of making daily production goals. This is a role where good work is visible and recognized through collaboration with other Supervisors, Engineers, Purchasing and other departments to meet schedules and keep customers happy. If you like the feeling of helping your employees be successful, rearranging schedules for quick changes, improving problems that are affecting production, selecting the best new people to grow in the company, this will be a great opportunity.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
- Meet production goals based on schedules, materials and availability of employees
- Meet commitments of delivery based on customer schedules
- Help employees be successful by assigning the right people to the right job and providing training for them to be successful
- Ensure fairness among employees by following company policies and foster an inclusive culture
- Figure out the best solutions for the day-to-day problems that are bound to come up
- Regular communication with employees both one-on-one and in department meetings, as well as with management for ensuring results
- Make decisions that help the whole operation perform better
- Collaborate with other Supervisors, Purchasing, Shipping, Scheduling, Engineering
- Your success … good performance allows for autonomy and growth
WHO WILL DO WELL HERE
You will do well here if you are organized, practical, and comfortable working in the real world of manufacturing, where priorities change and details matter. You should like solving problems, following through, and keeping people informed. You should be able to work with employees without being pushed around, and work with internal teams without creating friction. You do not need to be flashy. You do need to be accurate, dependable, and willing to own the details.
WHAT YOU BRING 1.
Solid management skills from experience in a manufacturing environment. 2. Leadership which is different from just supervision; help people be successful. 3. Initiative to see situations and make them better. 4. Commitment to get the jobs done correctly and on time. 5. Safety awareness to make sure all employees go home every day in the same condition they arrive at work. 6. Strong communication skills with direct reports and internal teams. 7. Comfort using ERP systems, production schedules, inventory records, and basic analysis to make decisions. An associate's degree in supervision, business administration, or a related field is preferred, along with at least 5 years of progressively responsible supervisory experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
