Job Description

Growing food manufacturer in the Pleasant Prairie, WI area is seeking two (2) Packaging Supervisor's to lead their high-speed packaging department. This will be over a brand new line and has openings over 1st and 3rd shifts . You will be responsible for managing personnel, machinery, and material flow to ensure our products are packaged safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all quality standards. This role begins with a 12-hour shift structure to stabilize our new production demands, with a planned transition to a standard 8-10 hour schedule once operational milestones are met. 1st shift begins at 7am. 2nd shift will begin at 7p.
Key Responsibilities Line Throughput:
Oversee high-speed packaging equipment (baggers, wrappers, cartoners, case packers, and palletizers) to meet daily production targets.
Schedule Transition Management:
Lead the team through the shift-length transition, maintaining morale and ensuring staffing levels remain optimized during the change in hours.
Quality Assurance:
Verify that all packaging meets label accuracy, seal integrity, and "Best By" date requirements. Conduct regular weight checks and metal detector verifications.
Material Management:
Coordinate with the warehouse to ensure film, corrugated boxes, and labels are staged and ready, minimizing downtime during changeovers.
Labor Optimization:
Manage a team of 20+ packaging operators; handle scheduling, performance reviews, and cross-training to ensure "bench strength" on all lines.
Safety & Sanitation:
Enforce LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures during machine jams and ensure the packaging area meets deep-clean standards during sanitation windows.
Required Qualifications Experience:
3+ years of supervisory experience specifically in packaging or secondary processing within the food, beverage, or pharma industries.
Technical Knowledge:
Familiarity with automated packaging systems and HMI (Human Machine Interface) troubleshooting.
Flexibility:
Must be able to work the initial 12-hour "bridge" schedule and remain flexible during the transition to 8-10 hour shifts.
Compliance:
Strong working knowledge of GMPs, SQF, and HACCP.
Software:
Experience with OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) tracking and inventory management software. #jdp
