Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Welder Helper and be a vital part of our fabrication and construction projects! In this energetic role, you'll assist skilled welders in preparing materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring smooth workflow on construction sites or in the interior welding facility!. Your contribution will help bring complex metal structures to life, supporting safety, quality, and efficiency at every step. This paid position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in welding support and mechanical fabrication within a fast-paced environment. Duties Assist welders with material handling, including sheet metal and metal materials, ensuring proper positioning for welding tasks Prepare and set up welding equipment such as power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and gas metal arc welding (GMAW) tools Measure and mark materials using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise cuts and fits Support the fabrication process by interpreting blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints according to AWS standards Maintain safety protocols by adhering to OSHA guidelines and using hand tools and power tools responsibly during all tasks Help with pipe threading, ductwork assembly, sheet metal fabrication, and metal materials handling as needed Keep work areas clean and organized while assisting with the setup of welding stations and fabrication shops Requirements Prior experience on construction sites or in a fabrication shop environment is highly preferred Basic knowledge of welding techniques including FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding processes Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints for accurate assembly and fabrication Familiarity with measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math for precise measurements Mechanical knowledge related to metal fabrication, pipe threading, machining, soldering, plasma cutting, press brake operation, and ASME codes & standards Experience with hand tools, power tools, fabricating sheet metal or ductwork is a plus Strong commitment to safety protocol adherence in all tasks performed Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive attitude toward learning new skills in welding support roles This position is ideal for motivated individuals eager to grow their skills in welding assistance while contributing to high-quality manufacturing or construction projects.
