Job Title:
Machine Operator Job Description This role supports a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility by operating production machinery, performing general labor tasks, and assisting across multiple departments that produce oil seals, gaskets, and PTFE components. You will work with a variety of machines and tools in a fast-paced, non-climate-controlled environment, contributing directly to the quality and output of critical automotive parts. Responsibilities Operate various production machinery, including press machines and stamping equipment, in accordance with safety and quality standards. Perform general labor tasks such as sorting, kitting, assembly, and inspection to support overall production flow. Work across different departments, including gaskets, oil seals, and PTFE, as production needs require. Use hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools such as tape measures to complete assigned tasks accurately. Assist with machine setup and basic machine operation activities as directed by supervisors or leads. Handle parts and materials safely while maintaining a clean and organized work area in a dusty, dirty environment. Monitor machinery and production processes and promptly report any issues, malfunctions, or safety concerns. Follow all safety rules, including proper use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to plant procedures. Comply with attendance and call-out procedures, including using the designated phone number provided during orientation when reporting absences. Work scheduled shifts and overtime as needed, particularly in departments where overtime is common, such as oil seals. Essential Skills Experience in production or general labor within a manufacturing or industrial environment. Ability to operate or learn to operate press machines, stamping machines, and other production machinery. Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in a manufacturing setting. Capability to read and use basic measuring tools such as tape measures to ensure accuracy. Comfort working in hot, dusty, and dirty conditions, including near ovens and compression equipment. Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining attention to detail and quality. Willingness to work any assigned shift, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 10-hour shifts, and to work overtime when required. Reliability in following established call-out procedures and plant policies. Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift materials, and move around a busy production floor safely. Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled facility with exposure to heat from ovens and machinery. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Athens, AL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.66 - $21.66/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
