Job Title:
Yard Worker Job Description This role supports an auto auction facility by preparing vehicles for sale as they arrive on site. You clean and inspect incoming vehicles, document key details using a handheld device, and help ensure the yard remains organized and safe. You work outdoors year-round in a large lot filled with damaged vehicles, moving in and out of cars throughout the day. Responsibilities Clean incoming vehicles during the check-in process, including vacuuming interiors, removing trash, and ensuring the vehicle is free of debris. Gather personal belongings found in vehicles, bag them separately, and handle them with care for proper return or storage. Wrap any broken glass or sharp edges in plastic wrapping to maintain safety and prevent further damage. Use a handheld device to enter key vehicle information such as color, make, model, VIN number, visible damage, and overall vehicle condition. Take clear and accurate photos of vehicles using the handheld device to support auction listings and documentation. Assess and record visible damage and general vehicle quality, identifying key issues that impact vehicle condition. Move checked-in vehicles from the intake area to the designated holding lot once they are cleaned and documented. Work safely and efficiently in a large outdoor yard containing hundreds of wrecked vehicles, following site rules and safety procedures. Get in and out of vehicles frequently to capture details, take photos, and complete inspections. Lift and move items up to 50 pounds when needed, such as vehicle parts, equipment, or materials related to vehicle processing. Support general yard duties as needed, including basic clean-up, organizing vehicles, and maintaining a tidy work area. Essential Skills Willingness to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions, including snow, cold, heat, and rain. Basic technology skills and comfort using a handheld device or mobile application to enter data and take photos. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required as part of daily yard and vehicle duties. General labor experience, particularly in physically active roles. Comfort working in and around wrecked or damaged vehicles in a large outdoor yard. Ability to move in and out of vehicles frequently to perform inspections and take photos. Attention to detail when documenting vehicle information such as VIN, make, model, color, and visible damage. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in landscaping, construction, or other outdoor work environments. Mechanical aptitude, such as experience changing tires, jump-starting vehicles, or performing basic automotive tasks. Strong work ethic and reliability in physically demanding, outdoor roles. Comfort working independently while following established procedures and safety guidelines. Why Work Here? You join a hands-on, active role where you spend your day outdoors instead of at a desk, contributing directly to a well-organized and efficient auto auction operation. The work offers consistent physical activity, variety in daily tasks, and the opportunity to develop practical skills in vehicle handling and inspection. You become part of a team that values reliability, safety, and clear communication while working together in a fast-paced yard environment. Work Environment This is a fully outdoor position in a large yard containing hundreds of wrecked vehicles. You work outside all day in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow, and must be comfortable with year-round exposure to the elements. There is a small on-site office where paperwork is handled, but the role itself is based in the yard. You frequently get in and out of vehicles to take photos, gather details, and complete inspections. The job involves standing, walking, and moving around the lot throughout the day, with occasional lifting of items up to 50 pounds.
