Shipfitter RSC Solutions - 4.4 Mobile, AL Job Details Full-time $40 - $42 an hour 3 hours ago Qualifications TIG welding Forklift Materials handling Manufacturing Hand tools Full Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Shipfitter to join our dynamic manufacturing and construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing metal structures and components with precision and efficiency. Your expertise in fabrication, welding, and blueprint reading will be essential to ensure that all shipbuilding or structural projects meet strict quality standards and safety regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on complex projects that require technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Duties Interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide fabrication and assembly processes Measure, cut, shape, and fit sheet metal and structural components using hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and press brake machines Perform MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), welding, and Soldering to join metal parts securely according to ASME codes & standards Use calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate dimensions during fabrication and assembly Operate rigging equipment such as cranes for lifting heavy components safely into position Fabricate ductwork, piping, and structural assemblies while adhering to schematics and engineering specifications Conduct pipe threading, machining, and assembly tasks with mechanical knowledge of manufacturing processes Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and materials while following safety protocols at all times Skills Extensive construction site experience with a strong understanding of safety practices Proficiency in MIG welding, TIG welding, FCAW welding, welding, plasma cutting, and soldering techniques Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, calipers, micrometers, press brake machines, and machining equipment Knowledge of rigging operations including crane handling for heavy lifting tasks Familiarity with fabrication processes involving sheet metal work and ductwork installation Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks Mechanical knowledge related to pipe threading, assembly processes, and manufacturing standards Experience operating forklifts or other material handling equipment preferred but not required Join our team if you're passionate about craftsmanship in shipbuilding or structural fabrication!
