Job Title:

Welder Helper Job Description The Welder Helper supports welders and fabrication teams by preparing materials, maintaining tools, and assisting with basic welding tasks in a shop environment. This role requires familiarity with common welding tools and adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities Assist welders with setup, material handling, and job preparation. Operate basic shop tools, including grinders, oxy-acetylene torch, and chop saw. Measure and mark materials using a tape measure to ensure accuracy. Clean and prep metal surfaces for welding through grinding and deburring. Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe working condition. Follow all shop safety procedures, including PPE and hazard awareness. Support general shop tasks and material movement as needed. Essential Skills Experience using basic welding and fabrication tools such as grinders, torches, chop saws, and tape measures. Understanding of shop safety standards and safe tool operation. Ability to read a tape measure accurately. Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Ability to lift materials and work in a physical shop environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Some experience with welding would be beneficial. Ability to read schematics or shop prints. Experience with MIG welding is a plus. Why Work Here? Work Environment The position is based in an industrial shop setting with noise, heat, and metal fabrication equipment. It involves standing, lifting, and performing repetitive tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gilbert, AZ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
