ROLE SUMMARY
We're looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Production Assistant to handle day-to-day prep work and keep the shop running efficiently. This is a hands-on role. You'll be prepping materials, weeding vinyl, assembling signs, laminating graphics, maintaining equipment, and keeping the workspace organized so the lead installer can focus on wraps and client work. You need to know your way around a vinyl plotter, laminator, and wide-format printer. If you show up on time, take direction well, and take pride in doing clean work — we want to talk to you.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Prep (60% of time) Weed, mask, and prep vinyl graphics for vehicle wraps and sign projects Cut, trim, and assemble sign panels, banners, and displays Laminate printed graphics and prepare materials for installation Operate vinyl plotters, laminators, and wide-format print finishing equipment Perform quality checks on printed and cut materials before handoff to installer Maintain an organized, clean workspace (tools, materials, waste disposal) Routine equipment maintenance (clean plotters, laminators, and printers per schedule) Track inventory of vinyl, substrates, laminates, and supplies — flag reorder needs Receive and inspect material shipments Assist with loading and unloading materials and finished products Deliveries (40% of time) Deliver and pick up finished signs, banners, and printed materials to and from client sites Assist with on-site sign installations (mounting, hardware)
Note:
Schedule flexibility is required — some deliveries require early morning or end-of-day timing to meet client deadlines
QUALIFICATIONS
Required 1-3 years experience in a sign shop, print shop, or vehicle wrap environment Hands-on experience with vinyl weeding, masking, and application techniques Experience operating wide-format printers, vinyl plotters, and laminators Valid driver's license and clean driving record (will be driving company vehicles for deliveries) Ability to lift 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods Comfortable working with hand tools, utility knives, and basic shop equipment Detail-oriented — sloppy prep ruins a $3,000 wrap job Reliable and punctual. This is a small shop scaling up. If you don't show up, production stops. Ability to follow instructions precisely while also thinking ahead High school diploma or equivalent Preferred (not required) Basic knowledge of Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW (for file prep, not design) Experience with sign installation (mounting hardware, ladders, basic tools) 3M or Avery vinyl product knowledge
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$18-$22/hour depending on experience 90-day performance review with raise opportunity ($20-$23 target for strong performers) Full-time, 40 hours/week Paid time off: 1 week (40 hours) after 90 days — 2 weeks (80 hours) after 1 year Growth path: Production Assistant → Lead Production → Shop Manager as the business scales
