General Production Worker - Quality and Ink Matching Job Description This role focuses on assessing the quality of raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products to ensure they meet established standards. You will perform laboratory tests, support ink color matching for customer orders, and maintain accurate quality records and sample retains. Working closely with production and quality teams, you will help standardize manufactured products and contribute to a smooth, efficient manufacturing process. Responsibilities Perform established assessment tests and evaluations on production batches to verify that materials and finished products meet quality specifications. Implement necessary corrections directly in production based on test results to ensure batches meet required standards. Create, organize, and maintain accurate and complete quality records, including both hard copy and computer files, as well as sample retain files. Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent production situations, prioritizing tasks to support continuous operations. Refer exceptional, unprecedented, or atypical quality situations to the QC Shift Chemist for guidance and resolution. Participate in an active rework program for out-of-spec and rework materials, helping to minimize waste and recover usable product where possible. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the QC Shift Chemist to support quality and other departments as needed. Set up, operate, clean, adjust, and calibrate laboratory equipment and instruments, and apply an understanding of their principles and practical functions. Interpret data obtained from laboratory equipment and instruments to make informed quality decisions. Develop and maintain a working understanding of manufacturing equipment, processes, and procedures to support effective quality control. Stay current on changing requirements in test methods, evaluations, specifications, and special situations relevant to the products and processes. Work cooperatively with other groups and departments, particularly Manufacturing, to support production goals and quality standards. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area, including regular cleaning and upkeep of equipment and instruments and proper waste disposal. Work the assigned shift schedule as discussed with management and reliably support daily production needs. Operate at all times within company guidelines, regulations, and policies, following all safety and environmental procedures. Match ink colors to specific customer orders using a computer program and hands-on mixing techniques, ensuring accurate color reproduction. Conduct quality control checks on samples from production to confirm that batches are correct and ready for release. Update computer software entries and database records for customer files to ensure accurate and current information. Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall quality and production operations. Essential Skills Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience. High school diploma or equivalent. Basic computer skills, including accurate data entry and comfort working with computer-based systems. Ability to learn and use specialized software for ink color matching and quality data management. Strong attention to detail when performing tests, matching colors, and recording data. Ability to multitask and manage several activities in a fast-paced production environment. Capability to stand for periods of time during laboratory and production-related tasks, with the ability to use stools as needed. Willingness to learn new processes, equipment, and testing methods related to ink and production quality. Ability to follow written procedures, safety guidelines, and company policies consistently. Additional Skills & Qualifications SAP experience or familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is a plus. Experience with general production, testing, validation, or ink-related processes is beneficial. Comfort working with laboratory instruments, including setup, calibration, cleaning, and basic troubleshooting. Strong organizational skills for maintaining quality records, sample retains, and customer file databases. Effective communication skills to collaborate with quality, manufacturing, and other departments. Adaptability to changing test methods, specifications, and production requirements. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a laboratory and production support environment on a 1st shift schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. with a 45-minute lunch break. You will work with laboratory instruments, testing equipment, and computer systems, including specialized software for ink color matching and quality data management. The role involves periods of standing while performing tests and production checks, with stools available to support comfort as needed. The facility operates under defined safety and environmental guidelines, and you will be expected to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper waste disposal and regular equipment upkeep. You will have the opportunity to tour the lab, become familiar with the equipment and processes, and work closely with both quality and manufacturing teams in a structured production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chino, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
