- Full-time Manufacturing & Production Engineer Southern California | Full-Time We are a growing metal fabrication operation specializing in precision laser cutting, tube fabrication, CNC machining, and robotic welding.
We're looking for a hands-on engineer who knows how parts get made — strong in SolidWorks, comfortable on a VMC, and fluent in the language of welded assemblies and tube frames. Key Responsibilities Create and manage SolidWorks models, weldments, sheet metal flat patterns, and tube/structural drawings for manufacturing — including flat patterns, tube cut lists, and complete drawing packages ready for the floor. Program, set up, and operate Haas VF2 vertical machining centers; own fixturing, first-article inspection, and process development as we expand VMC capacity and part complexity. Develop and grow our in-house machining capabilities — longer parts, more complex fixtures and tooling, and eventually expanded multi-axis work. Define welding and grinding requirements on drawings and traveler documents — joint prep, weld symbol callouts, post-weld grind/finish specs, and inspection criteria. Design and build fixtures and tooling to support repeatable welding, forming, and machining setups. Support robotic and manual MIG welding operations — weld programs, fixture interfacing, and quality of tube frame and sheet metal weldments.
Own quality control processes:
first-article inspection, in-process checks, and final inspection against customer drawings. Work directly with ownership and the production team to improve workflow and support shop growth. Required Skills & Qualifications Advanced SolidWorks proficiency in sheet metal and weldment environments — flat patterns, tube cut lists, complete manufacturing drawing packages. Solid understanding of welded assembly and tube frame fabrication — fit-up, distortion control, weld sequencing, and post-weld finishing requirements. CNC machining experience on vertical machining centers; ability to write and edit G-code and own setups independently. Ability to read and create GD&T drawings and define inspection criteria. Hands-on mentality — this role is on the floor as much as it is at a desk. Preferred Qualifications Appetite to grow into expanded machining responsibilities as the operation scales. Experience with robotic welding systems — programming or fixture development. Familiarity with press brake operation and laser cutting workflows. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and job shop flow concepts.
