m. | 36 hours per week Position Overview Hi-Craft Metal Products is seeking a Manual Hand Metal Spinning Trainee to join our manufacturing team. This position is specifically focused on learning the traditional manual "hand" metal spinning process, where metal is formed by hand using spinning tools and rollers on a spinning lathe. The ideal candidate will have prior manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or metalworking experience and should already be familiar with the basic principles of metal spinning. The selected candidate will spend approximately 90 days training directly under an experienced Manual Metal Spinner. During this period, the trainee will learn Hi-Craft's manual spinning techniques, tooling, equipment, materials, quality standards, safety practices, and production expectations. Upon successful completion of the training period and demonstration of the required skills, the employee may transition into a Manual Metal Spinner position. We are especially interested in candidates who also have CNC programming and CNC machining experience. As Hi-Craft continues to transition certain manual spinning operations to CNC spinning equipment, this position may play an important role in helping oversee and support that transition. Responsibilities Train directly under an experienced Manual Metal Spinner during the initial 90-day training period. Learn traditional manual hand metal spinning techniques using manual spinning lathes, hand tools, rollers, tooling, and mandrels. Learn how to properly control pressure, movement, material flow, and forming techniques by hand. Assist with setup of manual spinning lathes, tooling, mandrels, and workpieces. Learn how to form metal parts to required dimensions, profiles, tolerances, and specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and measurements. Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring equipment. Work with materials including aluminum, stainless steel, steel, and other metals. Follow established production, quality, and safety procedures. Demonstrate consistent progress toward independently producing acceptable manually spun parts. Assist with documenting manual spinning processes and translating those processes into repeatable CNC operations. Support the continued transition of applicable manual spinning jobs to CNC spinning equipment. Work with management and production personnel to identify parts and processes that may be suitable for CNC spinning. Help develop, adjust, troubleshoot, and improve CNC spinning programs when qualified to do so. Qualifications Required Previous manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or metalworking experience. Basic understanding of or previous exposure to the manual metal spinning process. Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with industrial machinery and hand tools. Ability to read blueprints, measurements, and basic manufacturing specifications. Ability to use inspection equipment such as calipers and micrometers. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability and willingness to learn traditional manual hand spinning techniques from an experienced Metal Spinner. Reliable attendance and ability to work the required Monday-Thursday schedule. Preferred CNC programming experience strongly preferred. CNC machining, setup, or operating experience. Experience with CNC spinning equipment is highly desirable. Experience translating manual machining or forming processes into CNC programs. Experience with tooling, fixtures, feeds, speeds, machine setup, or process development. Ability to troubleshoot and optimize CNC programs and manufacturing processes. 90-Day Training & Advancement The first approximately 90 days of employment will focus primarily on learning and developing manual hand metal spinning skills. The trainee's progress will be evaluated in areas including: Understanding of manual hand metal spinning Proper use of hand spinning tools and rollers Manual machine and tooling setup Material control and forming techniques Part quality and dimensional accuracy Blueprint and work instruction comprehension Safe operation of equipment Productivity and consistency Ability to work with increasing independence Upon successful completion of the training program and demonstration of the skills necessary to meet Hi-Craft Metal Products' expectations, the employee may advance into a Manual Metal Spinner position. Completion of the 90-day training period does not automatically guarantee advancement. Advancement will be based on demonstrated skills, performance, attendance, safety, quality, and successful completion of the training requirements. Future CNC Spinning Responsibilities As Hi-Craft continues expanding its CNC spinning capabilities, this position is expected to have the opportunity to take on additional responsibility related to the transition from manual spinning to CNC spinning. For candidates with CNC programming experience, future responsibilities may include: Helping convert existing manual spinning processes into CNC programs Supporting CNC spinning machine setup and programming Documenting manual spinning techniques for CNC process development Troubleshooting and refining CNC spinning programs Identifying opportunities to improve repeatability, efficiency, and production capacity Helping train production personnel on CNC spinning processes Working alongside management to support Hi-Craft's long-term transition toward CNC spinning technology Schedule Monday-Thursday 6:30 a.m
