Job Title:
Production Associate - 1st Shift Job Description This role supports the production of advanced compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel storage systems and tanks for trucks and large vehicles. As a Production Associate on 1st shift, you work in a clean, modern manufacturing facility to assemble, operate machinery, and support multiple production stations. You use hand and power tools, follow detailed work instructions, and help ensure that products meet strict quality and safety standards while meeting production timelines. Responsibilities Interpret and follow detailed work instructions, procedures, and visual instruction sheets to complete production tasks accurately. Use assembly tools, fixtures, and specialized equipment safely and efficiently to support manufacturing operations. Perform mechanical assembly tasks using best practices to maintain product quality and consistency. Assist with filament winding operations, including resin application, resin squeezing, tool cleaning, tool maintenance, and setting up floor mats. Support rotomolding processes by preparing materials, loading raw materials such as resin and paxon, and performing boss recovery tasks. Carry out tank labeling and foam dome installation with precision and attention to detail. Assemble and package products to meet or exceed quality standards and delivery timelines. Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items as needed to support production flow. Clean and lubricate equipment to maintain proper operation and reduce downtime. Dispose of scrap resin, fiber, cardboard, and other production waste according to company procedures. Maintain a clean, organized work area and support housekeeping and 5S activities throughout the facility. Work across multiple stations, including Rotomold Operator, where you operate injection mold machines to form tanks. Support winding machine operations that wrap tanks with resin and protective layers, including troubleshooting and working with carbon fiber after appropriate training. Perform Trailer Assembler tasks, preparing tanks for installation in trucks and conducting pressure-related checks. Carry out Tube Bending tasks, installing and shaping metal tubing and safety components around the tanks. Work on Adapter, Volumetric, End-of-Line (EOL) domes and labeling tasks, including measuring tanks, checking pressurization, and using water tanks to identify leaks by observing bubbles. Collaborate with team members and follow supervisor direction to meet production goals and support overtime requirements when needed. Consistently follow all safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment as required. Essential Skills Preferably 1.5+ years of experience in machine operation or production/manufacturing environments. Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery and mechanical assemblies. Experience and proficiency with hand tools and power tools, with the ability to identify and describe common tools found in a toolbox. Ability to follow detailed written and visual instructions, including work instructions and visual instruction sheets. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Willingness and ability to work 1st shift, generally Monday through Friday, and support mandatory overtime, including extended 12-hour days and occasional Saturdays when required. Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with multiple machines running. Basic understanding of safe tool use and adherence to safety procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with machine operating, general production, assembly, or construction work. Familiarity with composite materials such as resin, epoxy, fiberglass, carbon fiber, Kevlar, pre-preg, and other composite materials. Experience working with visual instruction sheets, routers, or blueprints is a plus. Experience using a torque wrench is a plus. Environments involving pressure testing or working with pressures is helpful but not required. Comfort working across different stations, including rotomolding, filament winding, tube bending, and trailer assembly, after receiving training. Work Environment The role is based in a very clean, large manufacturing facility with multiple machines running, designed to feel comfortable rather than overly industrial. You work primarily on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, generally from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the possibility of starting as early as 5:00 a.m. to support overtime. Overtime is mandatory as needed and may include 12-hour days and occasional Saturdays. The facility uses injection molding machines, winding machines, and other specialized equipment to produce CNG fuel storage systems and tanks. You regularly work with hand and power tools, composite materials such as resin, epoxy, fiberglass, and carbon fiber, and perform tasks like tube bending, pressure testing, and labeling. The environment follows structured housekeeping and 5S practices to keep work areas organized and safe. Appropriate personal protective equipment is required, and steel-toed boots are expected as part of the attire for working on the production floor. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lake Forest, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
