Entry-Level Production Associate - Sheet Metal Fabrication Job Description As an Entry-Level Production Associate, you will support the sheet metal fabrication process by assisting with machine setup, material handling, and basic quality checks. You will work alongside experienced team members, learning a variety of fabrication techniques while contributing to a production environment. Responsibilities Assist in the setup and operation of sheet metal fabrication machinery, including shears, press brakes, and laser cutters. Load and unload materials onto machines, ensuring proper alignment and positioning for accurate fabrication. Perform basic quality checks to verify that products meet established specifications and standards. Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area. Collaborate with team members to achieve daily production goals and meet deadlines. Learn and apply various sheet metal fabrication techniques and processes under the guidance of experienced staff. Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and tape measures to support production tasks as needed. Handle general production duties such as packaging, packing, stacking, sweeping, cleaning, and material handling. Operate or assist with forklifts and other material handling equipment as trained and authorized. Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or quality issues promptly to supervisors. Essential Skills Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team. Basic math skills and the ability to read and interpret measurements using a tape measure. Willingness to learn new tasks, tools, and technologies related to sheet metal fabrication. Physical ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs as required by production activities. Comfort using hand tools, power tools, grinders, and basic production equipment. Reliability in performing general production and labor tasks such as loading, sweeping, cleaning, and packaging. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment is a plus but not required. Basic knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and equipment is preferred. Familiarity with forklifts and material handling equipment is beneficial. Experience with general labor tasks such as packaging, stacking, grinding, and sweeping is advantageous. Exposure to working in a metal shop or similar industrial setting is helpful. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a metal shop environment located in Oakland, operating within a production setting focused on sheet metal fabrication. The workspace includes typical metal shop conditions such as noise, metal dust, and frequent movement of materials. You will spend most of the day on your feet, handling materials, loading and unloading equipment, and performing general production tasks. A clean, organized, and safety-focused environment is emphasized, and appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment are expected to support safe and efficient operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Oakland, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
