Job Description

Earth back to earth. GaeaStar combines traditional craftsmanship with additive manufacturing techniques to produce eggshell thin ceramic to go cups.
Our motivation is simple:
Eliminate the negative impact of single use products. Inspired by how street vendors serve tea in India, we developed technology to print ultra-thin clay cups, bowls and plates that disintegrate naturally after use. It's a simple solution to a massive problem for our planet: Every year, over 500 billion disposable cups are used worldwide, and almost all end up in landfill or ways of water. ## Your Role We are expanding our small production team in San Francisco's Dogpatch. As a Production Assistant, you will independently handle all stages of the production process, from mixing clay over printing to packing finished cups. Throughout the production process, we combine traditional ceramic production techniques with modern technology. Production stations include mixing of raw materials, supervision of the automated vessel formation processes, reviewing and touching up bone-dry cups, glazing, setting up firings, laser engraving, and packaging of finished products. The team rotates between all production stations. Full-time, onsite position. Hours are Mondays through Fridays, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. We will consider applications for part-time and temporary work. Please call this out explicitly in your application. This is a non-exempt full time position based in San Francisco, California. The hourly rate is $ 23 - 27 per hour. This information is posted to provide applicants with information about what they might be eligible to receive. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed. ## Your Profile Interest in ceramics. Strong interest in pottery / ceramics is a big plus, ideally coupled with experience in the field. Experience in manufacturing or technical work. You know how to perform operations quickly and reliably with a strong eye for quality. Reliable & Organized. The team has to be able to count on you. Physical work. You're comfortable rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty. You should be comfortable lifting up to 50lb. Detail oriented. Our cups are fragile for large parts of the process and ultra thin. Precision and care matter. Location. You can work in person in San Francisco and are authorized to work in the United States. ## Why GaeaStar? We're improving continuously and you'll collaborate with engineers and ceramicists in our small team. Convenient location in San Francisco's Dogpatch with modern equipment. $ 25 per hour. Paid overtime. Fully paid base medical and dental insurance plans for eligible employees. Predictable scheduling. We're a lean startup with lots of room to innovate, learn together, and move quickly. ## Reach Out to Us! Our interview process includes a short phone call followed by a short work trial. Following the interview process, successful candidates must complete a background check and drug testing. GaeaStar fully complies with San Francisco's Fair Chance Ordinance.
