The City of Torrance is seeking a creative, organized, and technically skilled Media Production Operations Assistant to support the daily operations of the City's television and multimedia communications division. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and enjoys working behind the scenes to help deliver high-quality programming and public information to the community. The Communications Division is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of the City's external communications. The division works to ensure clear, consistent, and transparent messaging across all platforms—enhancing public trust, civic engagement, and awareness of City programs, services, and initiatives. The Division also manages Torrance Community Television (Public Access) and provides live coverage of bi-monthly City Council meetings on social media and Torrance CitiCABLE ; our City's award-winning government access cable television channel, providing quality television programming for the community since 1983. The Position The Media Production Operations Assistant performs responsible technical and operational duties related to the City's cable television channels and community communications programming. The position assists with studio and field productions, program scheduling, equipment operations, media asset management, and social media support, while also supervising interns and assisting production staff as needed. This position is ideal for candidates who are collaborative, detail-oriented, technologically proficient, and passionate about multimedia communications and public service. For more information about the duties of the position , click here . Education and Experience High school graduation or equivalent. Coursework in communications, television production or related field is desirable. Six months of full time or one year of part time experience as a production or operations assistant at a production facility (commercial, industrial, educational) or television station. Experience may include paid or non-paid. License and/or Certificates Must possess a valid Class C California Driver's License. Successful candidates will possess the following: Knowledge of broadcast, studio, and field production operations Proficiency with video production equipment, playback systems, and editing software Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, and After Effects Ability to operate cameras, audio equipment, and live production systems Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Adaptability and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced setting Interested candidates must submit an online application, supplemental questionnaire, and a link to a portfolio or reel of previous work at www.
