Full Job Description Job Summary:
Assists the Slitter Operator and other team members in the operation of the slitting line. Ensure materials and equipment are prepared and maintained to support continuous and safe operation. Perform tasks as directed by the Operator or supervisor while following all safety and quality procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Make strip set up in middle separator shaft. Feed coil trim into scrap winders. Line up coil strip and secure strip to recoiler drum. Learn to operate coil cart. Learn to cut bands and assist recoiler operators to band the slit coils. Observe and identify surface defects such as flatness, holes, and edge burrs. Help maintain line cleanliness and organization during and after production. Follow written instructions on MPOs (Manufacturing Process Orders) and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). Perform basic measurements using tape measures, micrometers, or calipers as trained. Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn and safety protocols are followed. Maintain housekeeping in the production area, including sweeping, clearing scrap, and emptying bins. Assist with changeovers and machine cleaning as required. Perform tasks as directed by Operator or supervisor to ensure safe and efficient operation. Work overtime when required
Required Skills:
Ability to use basic hand tools (e.g., hand bander, cutters, tape measure). Motivated to learn and follow detailed instructions. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Basic reading and math skills; ability to read work orders and labels. Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods. Experience operating forklifts or cranes is a plus, but training will be provided.
Education and Experience:

- 3 years of experience in the steel processing, steel distribution, metal processing, metal distribution industry (required) Must be able to work at a fast pace including but not limited to repetitive, heavy lifting, walking, standing, bending
Manufacturing:
2 years (required) Steel/Metal industry: 2 years (required) High School diploma or GED (required) Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Work Environment Work is performed indoors in a manufacturing setting with regular exposure to noise and moving machines/equipment. Work may require employees to be near and/or around moving mechanical parts in an environment where the noise level may be loud, with some exposure to fumes. Employees will be required to wear the appropriate PPE.
