This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with their hands, staying active, and seeing the results of their work at the end of the day. You do not need to be a fiberglass expert. We are primarily looking for someone who has a strong work ethic, is willing to learn, and is comfortable working in a real manufacturing and fabrication environment. Our projects can be dusty, messy, physical, and different from one week to the next. If you aren't afraid to get your hands dirty and like being part of a team that builds things, this may be a great fit. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Assist our production team with a variety of manufacturing and fabrication projects Prepare materials, parts, and work areas for production Perform sanding, grinding, surface preparation, trimming, and general finishing work Help with assembly, fabrication, and other shop tasks as needed Move and stage materials, tools, and finished components Assist experienced team members during fiberglass and other production processes Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Learn new processes and equipment as experience grows Follow work instructions and safety procedures Jump in wherever help is needed to keep projects moving Because we are a small company, this is not a position where you'll perform the exact same task every day. Team members have the opportunity to work on many different types of projects and develop a broad range of hands-on skills. What We're Looking For Dependable and able to show up ready to work Strong work ethic and willingness to learn Comfortable working in a manufacturing/shop environment Willing to perform physical and sometimes dirty work Able to follow instructions and work safely Comfortable using basic hand and power tools, or willing to learn Able to work both independently and as part of a team Attention to detail and pride in completing quality work Previous manufacturing, construction, fabrication, painting, automotive, or similar hands-on experience is helpful but not required Bonus Experience Previous experience with fiberglass, composites, resin, gelcoat, mold making, body work, sanding, painting, or similar fabrication processes is a plus, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person who brings a good attitude, reliability, and a desire to learn. Physical Requirements This is an active manufacturing position.
Applicants should be comfortable:
Standing and working on their feet for extended periods Bending, lifting, carrying, and moving materials Using hand and power tools Working around dust, noise, fiberglass, resins, coatings, and other manufacturing materials while using appropriate PPE Performing repetitive sanding, grinding, preparation, and finishing tasks when projects require it Why Work at EJ? EJ Painting & Fiberglass is a small, family-owned company that has served the greater Tri-State area since 1982 . One of the biggest differences between working here and working for a large manufacturing company is visibility and access to the entire project . You won't be one person performing a single task on a large assembly line. You'll see projects develop from beginning to end and have the opportunity to learn how different parts of the manufacturing process come together. You'll also work directly alongside our President and Founder on projects on a regular basis . We're a small team where titles don't prevent anyone from jumping in and helping get a project completed. For someone who wants to learn, develop practical skills, and have their work noticed, there is plenty of opportunity to grow with us. Benefits Competitive hourly pay based on experience Overtime opportunities Paid time off Paid holidays Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) 401(k) matching Hands-on training and opportunities to expand your skills Opportunity for advancement as experience and responsibilities grow How to Apply Send us your resume or a brief description of your work experience. We're interested in hearing from people with manufacturing experience, but we're equally interested in dependable people who are mechanically inclined, enjoy working with their hands, and are willing to learn.
