Kammetal is seeking a motivated, hard-working and attentive Shop Helper for the production of sheet metal and fabricated metal products. Candidate must be reliable and punctual, have experience working with hand tools, be able to work well with others and clearly follow written or verbal directions. You will be responsible for assisting fabrication, and CNC sheet metal department, finishing and shipping staff in all stages of production and other shop duties as assigned.SUMMARY:
This position is intended to help in different departments as a general helper in all aspects of production as needed and will also include other shop duties as required.Reports To:
Production Manager/Supervisor Duties and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:- Material handling
- Saw cutting, grinding, sanding
- drilling and countersinking operations
- Deburring
- Cleaning of parts
- Finishing metal (grinding welds, random orbital sanding, polishing and linear #4)
- Packaging and strapping of finished goods
- Miscellaneous shop help: cleaning, organizing, or assisting other employees as necessary
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Good mechanical aptitude
- likes working with hands
- interested in learning the metal fabrication trade by experience
- Availability and desire to work extended OT hours
- Reliable
- Diligent
- High school Diploma or GED, or related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and understand drawings and shop travelers
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- General ability to use basic computer applications
