A good candidate for this position has experience in professional kitchens, food production or manufacturing and working on a team to achieve daily and weekly goals. A working knowledge of food safety procedures, recipe conversion and an ability to motivate and manage teams are among the most valuable skills of potential candidates. Strong communication and math skills are required to be successful. The right person has the opportunity to grow into the Director of Production/Head Chef position over time. Job Description Assist and support the Director of Production/Head Chef in managing production schedules Involvement in every phase of creating, packaging and freezing gourmet gelatos and sorbets Learn to work gelato machines and make gelato and sorbet to specification Train and master every role on the production team Work with the Director of Operations and Office Manger on ingredient/supplies ordering and inventory management Maintain, stock and keep clean production areas Scale and prepare ingredients for daily recipes Inspect product for quality and appearance Carry out and maintain required documentation on batches and ingredients Keep a clean, orderly and safe work space in accordance with OSHA guidelines and the company's HAACP plan Maintain organized and safe freezer spaces to accommodate daily production Participate in daily quality control of product (tastings) Assist in research and development of new flavors and recipes Bilingual - English and Spanish is highly desirable Requirements Able to lift 45 lbs and move at a fast pace during the production process Maintain high level of attention to detail and understand measurement units for recipes Must have the math skills to calculate recipe conversions to scale Strong communication, organization and leadership skills Able to work in a cold environment for short periods of time Eagerness to learn Must have the interpersonal skills to integrate with an established team Valid driver's license Strong organizational skills, work ethic, reliability and desire to go above and beyond
