Production Operator - 3rd Shift Job Description This role operates on the 3rd shift and focuses on supporting a high-volume production line by handling large paper rolls, operating refit and packaging equipment, and maintaining consistent product quality. You will work with hand and power tools, measure materials accurately, and ensure machines stay running efficiently while following strict attendance and safety standards. Responsibilities Receive large paper rolls from the production line in the refit area and verify they match the required specifications. Measure paper rolls accurately using a tape measure to confirm correct length before processing. Operate refit machinery to make precise physical cuts on paper rolls according to production requirements. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively as part of daily production tasks. Monitor production line equipment and packaging machines to ensure continuous operation and minimize downtime. Work on general production and packaging lines, including packing, packaging, and inspection tasks as needed. Identify and respond quickly to machine issues to prevent machines from going down or to bring them back online promptly. Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and ear protection. Maintain a clean and organized work area to support efficient production and safe operations. Stand and work on your feet for 8-10 hours per shift while performing repetitive production and packaging tasks. Adhere to a very strict attendance policy and arrive on time for every scheduled shift, including arriving 30 minutes early on the first day. Remain available for some Saturday shifts when needed to support production demands or recover from machine downtime. Essential Skills Experience working in a production line environment with an understanding that machines must remain running and cannot be allowed to go down. Ideally 2 years of production experience, or equivalent experience in related fields such as warehouse or construction. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively in a production or mechanical setting. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for measuring materials and verifying specifications. Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with machinery and production equipment. Capability to stand on your feet and perform physical tasks for 8-10 hours per day. Strong reliability and commitment to strict attendance expectations. Willingness and ability to work 3rd shift hours (11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) Monday through Friday, with availability for some Saturdays as needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in auto mechanics, production, or machine operation, which has proven successful for others in this role. Experience with packaging lines, packaging machines, and general production work. Exposure to warehouse, construction, or similar hands-on environments demonstrating a strong work ethic and practical skills. Comfort working with inspection tasks to help ensure quality standards are met. Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and openness to cross-training in different production tasks. Why Work Here? You join a production team that rewards reliability and performance, including a raise after two months of perfect attendance while on contract and additional performance-based opportunities after the contract period. The environment values strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn, offering the chance to build hands-on skills with production machinery and tools. You benefit from clear expectations, structured shifts, and advance notice for additional workdays, supporting better planning and work-life balance. Work Environment The role is based in a non-climate-controlled but well-ventilated facility, designed so that temperatures remain manageable and do not feel excessively hot or cold. The primary schedule is 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays required; you receive two weeks' notice when Saturday work is scheduled, and you must remain available in case machines go down and production needs to be recovered. You will work around production lines, packaging machines, and refit equipment, using hand and power tools throughout your shift. The position requires standing for 8-10 hours and working in a fast-paced, mechanically oriented environment. The dress code allows shorts and t-shirts as long as clothing is not baggy, and you must wear steel-toed boots. Safety glasses and ear plugs are required at all times in designated areas.
