Position Summary The Sign Painter & Production Assistant is primarily responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing custom signs and sign components. This position also supports general sign production, assembly, shop organization, and occasional installation work. Previous painting or sign-industry experience is preferred but not required. We're willing to train the right person who is reliable, motivated, detail-oriented, and ready to learn. Responsibilities Prepare signs and components for painting by cleaning, sanding, filling, masking, and priming surfaces. Apply primers, paints, and finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. Mix and prepare paints and coatings according to job specifications and manufacturer instructions. Inspect completed work for proper color, coverage, consistency, and overall quality. Perform touch-ups and correct minor surface or finish imperfections. Clean and maintain painting equipment, tools, and work areas. Follow proper safety procedures when handling paints, coatings, solvents, and related materials. Assist with the fabrication and assembly of custom signs, frames, hardware, and related components. Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for production and installation. Load, unload, and organize materials, inventory, equipment, and deliveries. Safely operate basic hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment. Occasionally assist installation crews at customer job sites. Follow work orders, production schedules, safety procedures, and quality standards. Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment. Perform other painting and production duties as assigned. Qualifications Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Comfortable standing, bending, lifting, and performing hands-on work throughout the day. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to safely use—or willingness to learn to use—painting equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Reliable, punctual, and dependable. Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and accept feedback. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications Experience with painting, surface preparation, spray equipment, or industrial coatings. Experience in sign production, manufacturing, construction, fabrication, automotive painting, or another skilled trade. Forklift experience or willingness to be trained. $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
