Job Description

N/A Duties/Expectations:
  • Arrive at the office on time.
  • Ability to pass employment drug test and future random drug testing.
  • Ability to learn how to operate and maintain industrial sewing machines as trained by Mainstage.
  • Ability to take instruction, feedback, and adjust manufacturing technique to meet Mainstage standards.
  • Basic math skills - including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication, and fractions.
  • Ability to understand, adapt, and support process and project changes.
  • Works from design drawings, sketches, specification sheets and verbal directions to cut, sew and finish theatrical/custom curtains, scenery drops and custom projects to specific tolerances with minimum supervision of individual project work.
  • Ability to handle and lift fabric and sewing materials on rolls and/or bolts that can weigh up to 150 lbs. (over 50 lbs. handled by two people).
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
  • Reads, understands, and follows instructions on curtain build forms.
  • Follows written and verbal instruction to generate a finished product: fabric must be measured, cut, and sewn on industrial sewing machines. Top finishing is required, consisting of the installation of grommets and rivets utilizing hand tools. Finished product is then tagged and placed in protective bags for the customer.
  • Jobs may require working over 40 hours a week and include weekends.
  • Sewing shop and warehouse organization and/or cleaning as needed.
Skills required:
Use of basic measurements (including metric) and measuring tools, including tape measure and yardsticks. Previous experience in the operation of industrial sewing machines is required.
Compensation:
$21.00 per hour with time and a half for overtime for over 40 hours worked per week. Mainstage standard benefits include holiday pay, paid time off and insurance availability.
