Job Description

Job Title:
Technician Job Description As a Technician, you will be responsible for operating refinery equipment and managing glycerin refinery plant operations through systems like Distributed Control Systems (DCS) to maintain production targets and efficiency. You will monitor processes, ensuring optimal performance by making necessary adjustments. Quality control, chemical handling, and maintenance tasks are integral to this role. Responsibilities Operate and manage refinery equipment and systems to achieve production targets. Monitor process parameters, alarms, and equipment status, making necessary adjustments for optimal performance. Take samples and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory for quality testing. Handle chemicals safely, ensuring proper dosing and adherence to safety protocols. Conduct preventive maintenance on field equipment and report any compliance issues. Adhere to all plant safety procedures, especially when handling hazardous materials or working with high-temperature equipment. Essential Skills Proficiency in quality control procedures. Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills. Experience in mechanical and construction settings. Ability to operate forklifts and production machines. Skilled in inspection and use of hand tools. Experience in cleanroom environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications Valid driver's license. Computer proficiency. Comfortable working at heights. There is also potential for tuition assistance. Work Environment Work in a 12-hour rotating shift from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM in a climate-controlled environment. Be prepared to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and in confined spaces. You will be exposed to chemicals, pressurized steam, dust, heat, noise, and fumes. The dress code is casual, requiring steel-toed boots, hard hats, safety glasses, and additional PPE. Uniforms are provided later. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
