SUMMARY:

This position performs the following duties: setup and operation of wire machines and crimping equipment to make wire assemblies. Other duties include manual assembly of wire harnesses, mechanical assembly of wire to fuse holders and visual inspection of the completed assemblies. This position is also required to provide on-line training and assistance to other production associates as needed. The Production Associate must be capable of working with any or all of the following documents: Bills of Material, Assembly drawings, Work instructions, or Rework instructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate wire machines
• Use pneumatic wire crimping machine
• Understand wire gauges and how to change die sets
• Perform hand assembly of wire harnesses.
• Strip leads and tin wire using a solder pot.
• Assembly of mechanical parts in accordance with work instructions and provided documents.
• Perform visual inspection of units for proper assembly and workmanship standards.
• Perform wire pull testing of crimps.
• May use any or all of the following equipment/tools: Wire machine, Crimping machine, solder pot, fume extractors, various hand tools, air and power tools, wire strippers, lead forming machines, electronic test equipment, and computer terminal.
• Be responsible for general utility tasks including product movement and workstation setups.
• Provide on-line training and ongoing assistance to other production associates as needed.
• Follow safety rules and keep work area in clean and orderly condition.
• Cross training in other areas of production
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-year Machine operating experience preferred.
• Knowledge of wire assembly and/or electronics assembly required.
• Must be familiar with Manufacturing Processes and Workmanship Standards
• Familiarity with use of various hand, air, and power tools, and test equipment is helpful.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand and work at a workstation for extended periods.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements.
• Ability to perform work requiring fine manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Ability to lift and move materials as required for the position.
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to visually inspect small components and assemblies for proper workmanship.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay:

$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
